Other than “feeling special,” why do people care if others have the same gear as them?

No, your general attitude about the game as a whole is why im telling you to just find a new one. Its clear you are not having fun, and despite people from every scene of this game telling you that you just dont get it, you refuse to listen. Just because you feel your idea is a good one doesn’t mean other people have to view it as such.

This is what I, and I think most casuals want. A system where we can progress our characters, albeit at a slower pace to someone doing harder content, but the casuals can still work towards those pieces. If only they had done something like this in the past do draw upon.

Luckily Blizz doesn’t share your attitude.

This has been answered 3-4 times already yet you keep deflecting.

Oh, but they do, you just cant read between the lines.

Ditto. You like feeling elite with your high gear and think everyone should do the same content you did…well not everyone agrees with that. Might not be a good idea, just the way gearing is implemented currently.

My attitude is due to the whining from people like, “Don’t give everyone my gear, I want it to be special.” When you already have special stuff like mounts, titles, appearances, etc. that doesn’t impact gameplay.

But you don’t want other players to have gear because you want PvP to be easy for you, instead of “gitn gud”

I kind of think TBC and WotLK were the pinnacles here because of their valor/badge system. You could do raids and get gear, including tier sets, pretty quickly ORRRR you could grind out heroics and eventually get higher gear that way. Even without LFR casual players or semi casual players had a good chance to increase their power through the expansion.

Yeah and it was never as good as raiding gear. Seems like people are wanting more?

Exactly, badges and eventually Justice and Valor points as they became to streamline it all were a great system. Allowed players to set a goal and work towards that goal.

Nobody thinks like this, at all. You just dont have a justifiable reason to NEED the gear raiders get. If all you do is LFR and WQ’s why do you need to have the same gear as someone who put in 100+ wipes per boss across 3 months? I dont care who has what gear, but you have failed to develop any argument explaining why you NEED mythic gear.

It was though, the higher currency allowed you to buy normal level raid gear, or in Wrath allowed you to buy I believe it was 10m normal raid gear, admitted it took a lot longer to earn those pieces through daily heroics, but you could still work towards that goal.

Yeah and doing wqs and campaign can get you around castle Nathria normal gear. 197-207 from callings, world boss, wqs.
So what’s the problem?

I personally think the problem is, as with most gear paths outside PvP the level of RNG, can WQ and Callings reward good gear yes, but it’s all RNG based. I just want a system where I can set a goal, log on and work towards that goal. Like a currency system. If it’s earned through normal and heroic dungeons only fine, let me just know that I am making progress rather than playing the slot machine.

Basically, a system where you are able to make meaningful progress, ie you see the progress.

That was the difference, you could set yourself a goal and work towards that goal every time you logged on. Fresh alt, run normals and heroics to earn Justice points to build a basic set on par with Heroic dungeons and then farm your daily Heroic dungeon and slowly work towards that new piece.

Justifiable reason: PvP

PvP is dominated by those in PvE gear. That’s why higher ilvl is needed for those not doing mythic content. It’d be different if you could only use your mythic gear in PvE content…now there’s an idea.

I’ll say this again in case you missed it, I don’t NEED 226 gear to farm old raids but I’d like it so I can do it faster. Likewise you don’t NEED 226 gear to down mythic Sire but presumably you want it to make it easier and give more wiggle room for mistakes?

So here’s the thing, people complained about gear scarcity in raid and M+ so Blizz is putting in an upgrade system and instead of being happy they can now upgrade their slot they have been unlucky seeing drop in raids, people are mad that the system benefits them AND casual players who can run lower content but still work towards higher gear.

I agree. Currency for casual players is needed. Upgrading shouldn’t be locked behind M+. It should just have a lower cap.

Glad we can agree a currency system would be better all around.

But even the casual players would have to complete a certain threshold of M+ to upgrade it, no?

Yes I forget the the PTR numbers but you can increase your item level to like 200 base, if you’ve done all mythics at 5 then you can go to 207, all at 10 to 213, and all +15 then you can get your gear to 220 if you spend the points.

So it’s not like people can farm heroic Halls of Attonement 100 times and get better gear, they’ll still have to get +5 done which is a nice incentive to try but not too much so that it’s overwhelming

What currency for casual players? You mean anima?
Also I’m a casual player, I only log on twice a week to raid.

This idea that you should be rewarded for minimal effort is ridiculous. Would you play a pokemon game to have lvl 100 legendary pokemons handed to you within the 1st 5 minutes? Does that sound fun?

This mentality makes no sense and is completely opposed to the roots of what an rpg is. Plus you can get ilvl 190+ gear by simply doing wqs, as well as upgrading your gear with anima.
