Because they abused layering to level quickly. Those “creative mechanics” that allowed them to vastly accelerate their experience gains also didn’t exist in Vanilla.
I wasn’t here in vanilla but i have to say that even if this wasn’t whatever “nerfed” version it is this is still a 15 year old game and the knowledge of how to beat it is out there on the internet and in the minds of those that played that long so no way is it going to take a long time to clear it regardless of the version.
This is not a new mmo where everything is new and no one knows nothing. Hell look at ffxiv for example which uses level syncing and gear syncing for a majority of it’s fights. Titan extreme is still the same titan extreme it was back then with the same difficulty because of the syncing but people can beat it because guess what it’s been there for years
There is no question that raids will be cleared faster than they were in Vanilla. There is also no question that starting at patch 1.12 makes it much easier. However, I doubt that the majority of people will find Naxx an LFR level dungeon equivalent.
And? Without layering people would have been 60 about 24hrs later and you’d have seen people doing MC with an item or 2 less in gear drops, but you’d still see the same quest rewards like Blackhand’s Breadth and Eye of the Beast. The first kill was fast to be sure, but it paled in comparison to the Week 2 kills with people rocking actual BiS sets (or near enough).
There’s a 22 second Shaz kill on Warcraft Logs. The boss has essentially no friggin health at all so they stacked Warriors and zerged him down before he could even port around. We didn’t have that kind of foreknowledge of who would be sought after or not. I’m only leveling a Druid because that’s what I did ages ago, and thankfully all the Warriors want to DPS so Bear Tanking is more or less set for me to do, but if I wanted to min/max I’d have rolled Warrior or Mage.
That same type of knowledge is going to make TBC Classic fall over just as fast. Karazhan rocked people because it had such a higher individual responsibility requirement… and then we got mildly better at the game and it became a joke. The difficulty of Lady Vashj or coordinating Kalecgos is entirely gone, we have the strats, we know what classes do well and fall off.
The game simply was never hard, we just had zero clue how any of it worked back then and to complicate things more, Vanilla was the most player friendly of any period in terms of stacking mechanics to do crazy things. So many things could be stacked at the same time to achieve ridiculous power levels that so few knew to do… now we know.
It will be about as hard as WotLK Naxx was.
Which is roughly on par with being between LFR and normal. And that’s it, the hardest it’s going to get in classic.
Make up your mind. Either they’re trying to emulate vanilla, or they’re trying to emulate your experience. They can’t do both.
This is true,
I pugged a 10/10 MC run on Tuesday
We 2 shot rag and I didn’t even use a fire resistance potion or a flask or any buff or enchant.
The 1.10 nerfs are real
Which nerfs would those be?
I cant win no matter what side im on. Ive already stated many times we are playing nerfed content, but i got slashed for that.
Now im saying the latter and get slashed for it.
You people in these forums are hard to please. Heck with this nonsense.
Emulating the experience.
Rag was never one phased a week into the server.
And why does your experience have priority over everybody else’s?
Because this will be everyone’s experience. The bosses are far too easy.
Well yeah, no server opened with 15yrs of WoW experience, most notably including a majority of those years as non-Vanilla where other methods and strategies in general were developed and used by the playerbase, and significantly scarier PvE content was the norm in 5mans, never mind raids.
No amount of tripling/quadrupling of Rag’s health/armor/resistances/damage is going to overcome that. A “Heroic” MC would have to add entirely new mechanics that would be straight from post-Vanilla content, or otherwise face the same zerg-fest we have now that we could do then.
Talent trees were crappy back then. For instance, as a mage, I’d have to spend 5 talent points to make my arcane explosion go from a 1.5s cast to an instant cast. In later patches, it is just always instant (no need to waste 5 talents).
Then there are talents that bring my fire/frost +hit up by 6% for only 3 points (elemental precision). This talent didn’t even exist in early vanilla.
In early vanilla, there were so many crappy talents, and so few good ones. You really have to consider that the ease of clearing MC right now is due to 1.12 talents rather than tuning of the bosses.
Indeed. Clearly, you haven’t seen the people wiping on Deadmines pulls.
Yeah that’s why I’m not too big on adding mechanics.
But putting rag’s submerge on % instead of health for example would make the fight more complete than the Zerg it is now for example.
That’s part of the problem…
No one has hard numbers on any of this. It’s all about players feel. To some, this feels correct, to others, it doesn’t.
Raiders are lame. They need addons to even play. Not to mention voice chat. Nobody cares about people who need a crutch to kill PVE mobs.
We certainly do know for a fact that one phasing rag was not a thing a week into the server.
