The thing is Hidalin is trying to claim people back then were “doing the best with the info they had”, and yet that is what they were doing.
I have a hard time believing that was “the best” given just how basic some of the stuff they’re missing is.
Also keep in mind I’m referencing video of guilds competing for world firsts. Engaging in Paladin fantasies is fine, but these people were specifically there to down raid bosses.
ORIGINAL RAG WAS NOT RELEASED WITH 1.12 GEAR AND TALENTS IT WAS HARDER BECAUSE EVERYTHING WAS WONKY
THAT’S WHY IT WAS EASY
CLASSIC IS NOT EASIER
1.12 IS EASIER
yes this is a complete sentience bliz stop
Yep. More players are binding keys, everyone knows not to stand in fires, there’s a better understanding of addons and expectations, and we’re not limited by technology anymore. It’s not surprising that Ragnaros was killed so quickly, same thing is going to happen when Naxx is released.
Which is what many if us who were there predicted would be a surprising but possible result this time around.
Look through the forums and watch some old streams. Ok, sure two weeks maybe one with some poopsocking. Downed in half that time? A matter of days? No that’s layer abuse and cheese.
This is just flat out wrong. People can’t clear LFR in BFA. It took me a month to get people to stop standing in crap before we achieved AOTC and that was with addons and Vids that do everything except push the buttons for you.
Step into a pug if you think players are operating at the level you think these early kills are representing.
It’s pretty obvious to me but I suppose it can be read as an excuse: everyone will be in bis. We weren’t in bis back then and it wasn’t for lack of knowledge or attempts. The loot simply didn’t drop like it’s doing in this version.
Is this saying having more gear from AQ40 will offset the severe lack of Naxx gear for a guild clearing it on the first lockout instead of over months?
I don’t think we’ve even had enough time to determine if everybody will be in BiS, especially since there was an exploit that let people clear MC multiple times in a week(and they let some raid groups get away with it and keep the loot).
Though I imagine even if people were in gear equal to back in the day we’d have threads making excuses. Plus, clearing it on the first week means not having much Naxx gear.
Some people just don’t want to admit that maybe Vanilla isn’t as hard as they remember it being.
So far what I’ve seen is some of us old timers constantly have to remind others that the content itself was never really regarded as back breaking difficult. But even recognizing its easy is not the same as it being flat out pointless.
As far as exploits, what’s been revealed is only the tip of the iceberg. These pserver players have been hammering at bugs for over a decade and aren’t about to let you see where all the cracks are until they’ve gotten what they want.
I understand that. The part I don’t understand is why you and others continue to use these few hundred players as somehow representative of the player base in general.
The people looking at them and evaluating how easy the content is are LFR players though.
Either way, Naxx and AQ40 will go down in a day after release by APES and a handful of guilds like them. They will make up for the lack of gear with class and buff stacking on top of their ridiculous amount of experience with the content. Idiots online will be like ‘Look at how easy the content was’ while still wiping their guilds on Vael due to pulling aggro.
What you’re watching higher end private server guilds do or guilds with streamers isn’t indicative to what the rest of the community should except yet it keeps being used as such.
Well, it is true that players these days are better than they were back then, I’m one of those players. Secondly, this is not new and exiting content, it’s been done hundreds of times over many years, it’s unrealistic to think that it would pose a challenge to anyone at this point.
It took them just under 7 days AND it was a dominant private server guild.
You’re talking about people that have been playing this version of WoW for 10-15 years. You’re talking about people who have formed their own community of speed runners that have different categories of speed runs. Because they wanted new ways to challenge themselves. FunFact: #2 Classic lvl 60 in the world was a private server speed runner who had spreadsheets of data on where, when and EXACTLY how many kills he would need to ding 60. Who did NOT exploit layering and who would have been #1 had JokerD not exploited it.
You’re talking about people who arrange it so they have under 8xp left to ding level 60 so that they can walk into Orgrimmar/Stormwind and ding 69 off the discovery XP because that’s how it’s considered a legit speedrun.
People don’t realize that these private server guilds have Vanilla on lock and key and will beat out Method and all the other “pro guilds” by a country mile because they’ve BEEN PLAYING IT FOR FIFTEEN F#%^ING YEARS.
