Options to the Void Elf "Entropic Embrace" racial effects

Reno, I’m just going to say this once. You think this thread is spam, good for you. But either contribute to the thread with something that is actually relevant to the thread, and stop trying to derail it.

Leinadh, gonna ask if we can not derail this thread, and keep it on topic please?

As I said, I’m…not super happy with the helf fandom. I’m trying to keep it on a case by case basis, but you guys have got some real… unfortunate members in your fandom.

That said, in the interest of fairness, I wouldn’t be upset if they added something like this, but… I would really really prefer it if they added customization that actually added something to the void elves themselves before they added any more “high elf” flavoring.

NO. You are VOID ELVES still. This is no different from Worgen players wanting to be able to fight in Human form. No.

(Commentary): You won’t find High Elf fans against this. They’re welcome to more Void Elf customization, preferably when Allied Races get more attention. For the moment, for the launch of Shadowlands, they’d like to full range of customization for High Elves, which doesn’t seem unreasonable, then all of the new stuff Void Elves get will be void themed.

I would absolutely find high elf fans who were against it. My opinion of the fandom didn’t sour on its own. But fair enough…

I don’t mind the new “helf” customization options. I might use some of it to get my velf closer to the alleria void elf…look.

I just want to make sure that moving forward, if they are going to consider more Helf flavoring options, then they make sure to include options (for both races) that continue to expand on those races and not just turning void/blood elves into high elves.

As someone who has only just come back after a year-long hiatus, I completely get where you’re coming from. To be fair, there are people on both sides of the argument who argue in bad faith or misrepresent points to try and benefit their side of the argument.

What’s more surprising to me is that a lot of these petty arguments are still happening in light of the announcement on Void Elf and Blood Elf customisation options. You’d think the announcement would put enough of the issue to bed that there wouldn’t be need to get into pointless and circular lore arguments, but…well, I guess not. xP

I will say this, though, while I get your frustration, please do try not to paint everyone with the same brush. I’ve known some very good people on both sides that have engaged in productive discussions. Those are the people I try to engage with. The others, well, it’s important to take a step back, breathe, and remind yourself to just scroll past and not engage.

In terms of extra Void-themed options for Void Elves, what did you have in mind? Were you just thinking more hairstyles, faces etc or something beyond that?

Also, quoted for emphasis, because I’m in total agreement with you on this. ‘High Elf-esque’ options are nice, but they shouldn’t take over or come at the cost of more Void Elf options. Blizzard will need to cater to both ‘sides’ of Void Elf moving forward, and the same goes for making sure that Blood Elves get some more distinct flavour as well.

I mean, you’re probably right statistically, but I can only speak from personal experience. The majority interaction I’ve had with the fan base has been remarkably unpleasant in the last couple of days.

Sorry, again… I’ve met some people that have been just fine, but if my experience has been generally unpleasant. I’m going to tell people that my experience has been generally unpleasant. I don’t see what the issue with that is. When my mind changes, I’ll update accordingly.

Eh, I’m open. Tats. Eyes maybe… I just think we should get some more void them stuff before we get any more not void themed stuff for…the void elves.

Blizzard should look at those crap topics and decide to remove the normal skin colors for void elves, thinking you are entitled to all those nonsenses thinking your allied race is more especial than any others

to me you snickers don’t deserve a thing, next people will ask quel’thalas as alliance city then in the end remove blood elves and void elves of the game, what a crap fanbase

Of course, sorry.

She’s better at it than us.

…do you want to be a void elf or not? No? Don’t play one.

I was initially against the de-voidification. But then I remembered Zandalari have 5 racials to choose from, so sure why not.
The one thing I’m against is paladin, there’s no way to justify it as Void Elf, and even as High Elf the lore to back them up is very minimal.

This! I didn’t even know that was a thing, now there’s absolutely zero reason why there can’t be an alternative for Entropic Embrace.

My only critique for that is all of the Zan racials still fit the Zan race.

Where as remove of EE seems to actually … be kind of a step away from VEs themes.

I mean, whether I think it should be implemented or not, the customization only exists as a way to make void elves more high elves for rp purposes. Fine, but it’s not a direct comparison to Zanda racial options, yea?

I agree, if they do get more he baised appearances it should be used to further the corresponding race, not to transform it.

We could go with some shadowy hairstyles for an example. More void features beyond tenticles would be nice.

Except, I’m not asking to turn Void Elves into High Elves. I am asking for a toggle option, to disable the effect, of when Entropic Embrace procs.

And I think that creating options for racials that don’t add to the race they are for is setting a bad precedent.

Also, don’t cherry pick my quote. The full quote was about adding new void customizations for void as well as helf so that it doesn’t create an imbalance in the future. I never said the option in itself was going to suddenly change void elves into high elves. My concerns are just where the race is going in the future.

Based on your own opinion. But we have High Elves Wayfarers in Telegros Rift. We have Blood Elf Scholars in Telegros Rift. We have Alleria that choses to turn on her Entropic Embrace.

Asking for the option of turning off the effect of Entropic Embrace is not going to hurt the Void Elves, or hurt the game play.

Yea, it is an opinion. These are all opinions. We’re all allowed to give our feedback.

I think tweaking racials in a way that doesn’t benefit the race does set a precedent that could hurt lore and gameplay in the future.
