with all the information that ive been able to gather through playing the game with the old models when they had the switch (female gnomes looked better with old models) it seems the old “skin” was stretched to fit on the new “skeleton” of the character. meaning they only have it in the code to support one “skeleton” and also the new “animations” that come directly attached to it . if they had it in the code to do either “skeleton” with either “animation” it would be fine to have a “toggle”.
unless they do that then i would have to vote no on new gfx for a game that is to be a “re release”.
Tell me, how does a setting that changes which model file to display end up a buggy mess? Seriously, you’re just repeating the same old line with absolutely no evidence.
Only RP realm would care about it looking old. Graphics are still going to be the same just higher resolution, more polygons, etc. Just take your glasses off and it will look the same.
Myself and others noticed increase clipping of gear compared to normal, increased mount clipping compared to normal, and even the run animation would sometimes distort.
It wasn’t a big change but it did happen.
So long as old school is default
And so long as the moment it causes issues, they disable the toggle I’ll support it’s inclusion.
i diddnt play as much with the old models at that point. last i remember was being on my female gnome and seeing the skin stretched and looking horrible.
maybe the skeleton issues were fixed but they were tying the new animations to the new skeleton and forced the switch to the new one.
still it was always a bit wonky up till i stopped playing with the old ones.
example: you select to have golden eyes for your belf but theres a toggle where i can make your eyes a different color than you have chosen. thats not good since its your character and you have selected it specifically for its appearance, and fine tuned it to look the way you want with golden eyes.
the new model versions for some of the old models look nothing like their predecessors. the original models were real people made into 3d models. the new models are total fictions, not based on reality but some algorithm.
If I look at you with polarizing sunglasses does that impact your choices? Not especially… it changes how you appear to me, which is my choice.
It’s the same deal with different models. If I hack the datafiles so that you look like a crab or a murloc, it makes exactly the same difference to you as me wearing nice sunglasses: none.
Okay, so your evidence is anecdotal, a minimum of two and a half years old and consists of things that already happened but you think they happened more with the toggle.
i can provide back up for him a bit though. ya its anecdotal but my friends in game complained about such issues as well. most notably the clipping and the running animation.
