OPTIONAL graphic updates

they removed the vanilla skins cause the new animated skeletons were warping the vanilla textures in some funky ways, clipping thru the texture and so on.

We don’t live in a bubble. There’s screenshots, videos, streams. Millions of people will see two different versions of Classic. It’s absurd to think the devs will allow that to happen when authenticity is the calling card for Classic.

I understand people will continue asking for changes, regardless of how many times the Blizz devs say it’s not going to happen. But luckily its only the devs’ opinion that matters, and they’re committed to an authentic Vanilla recreation. And I’m so thankful for that.

They didn’t ensure backwards compatibility, making old model support worse and worse as time went on.

And earlier when my dude brought in Transmog to try and frighten people about how far we’ll end up down the “rabbit hole” of changes he threw a Slippery Slope fallacy in as well.

Not a good day for the guy.

because while you could use the old skins the texture was streched to fit the new models and it looked abhorrent . they could never get the toggle to act right and thus they removed it later on after trying for a year + to get it to work.

No, they have new textures for the new models. They’re germaine to the client, so they really don’t affect gameplay. PS: ever notice how when you do the /silly emote in a raid where somebody has an open mic, they get a totally different joke?

Remember when they used the toggle in retail and it had all sorts of issues with character models? I’ll support it so long as old school is default and modern fans get to deal with the crap

not sure if it would work any better in reverse. if the old skins were warped by the new animations, the new skins may be warped by the old animations. dont quote me though.

The problem you face is that slippery slope is not a fallacy, so I guess you need to educate yourself on that word as well.

Because they tried a toggle in retail and it was a buggy mess?

Actually when they tried this in retail it did negatively impact people.

Keep spreading that lie and eventually people might believe you.

Updated graphics as at least an option doesn’t effect gameplay at all on Vanilla. So telling others this is a bad idea just because you feel better with older graphics is just stupid. If you have the option to see better models and graphics with the same gameplay Vanilla offered, without affecting anyone else, then it should be allowed.

Right, but this doesn’t need to apply to classic.

In WoD, when the option first came out, there were none of the new ability animations.

This means the old models used the old skeletons and animations. It worked very well.

The in Legion they added in the new animations and forced the skeletons and models and yeah, things went downhill from there.

It’s not a lie though. Others saw it too.

No their was issues even during warlords. It wasn’t as bad as during legion but it had problems.

Exactly this. Fortunately these absurd requests are not going to happen.

The old models have a much simpler structure than the new models. Therefore they are not capable of the same movements as the newer models. So if only one animation set is available, it has to be the old animations. I can’t say if the new models would look correct “out of the box” with the old animations, but they could certainly be made to work with them.

actually it would. if its a social game you play with other people and the game gives you the option to create a character to represent you in the game and then another player can change your character, that impacts your choices.
