Open Question: An Alternative to Queues?

yes. temporarily!!

From a raider on Herod - yes please. Whatever you have to do to reduce the queues.

The layer hopping farming complaints are stupid. On the actual high pop servers humans aren’t farming 90% of the black lotus or Rich Thorium in the open world anyway.

I can’t believe people are still on the #nochanges bandwagon. I was sure they all quit months ago. It’s not the same game. I’d rather the game I play be playable than cater to blind nostalgia.

This isn’t a simple solution.

If you keep using layering as the temp fix to an increasing player base, especially during a period of time where people are going to be playing for 12-24 hours a day due to pure boredom during quarantine protocol, then you are really going to hurt the economy long-term when layering is no longer required.

I hear everyone making the same two basic arguments:

Layering is bad for the economy, and we don’t have enough server spawns for critical resources due to spawn-rates not compensating for the increased player base.

Any kind of temporary measure you do is either going to lower your player base for people being unable/unwilling to spend 3-6 hours in queue a night, or enable massive exploitation of your economy unless you fix something.

So the way i see it you really only have 3 options:

  1. Enable layering and never turn it off so market imbalance doesn’t occur

  2. Force players to different servers to balance them to manageable without help.

  3. Increase the server capacity again, and make changes to the spawn rates to compensate for the larger numbers.

All of these options have major drawbacks for an extremely varied group of players, so no matter what you do people are going to be unhappy, I just prefer the solution to be a long-term focused one

Well, this post seems pretty split on its opinion so if blizzard does something or nothing a lot of people are going to be upset.

They could instead lower server caps to match vanilla to keep it authentic

Worth considering but the ship has sailed. We stuck in this sh*t now lol. So just layer it.

You cannot allow transfers off layered servers. Would destroy destination server economies. Close the transfer windows.

Please turn layering back on, and do it again for phase 5, give us many layers for phase 5.

If people didnt want to sit in ques they would have listened and server transferred off. This is not a problem that Blizzard needs to deal with other then providing free transfers off the high pop servers.

Include layers, please. As soon as possible

No layers.

Yeah, we saw where you said that literally two comments previous. Thank you for your contribution.

I’m lazy and don’t feel like sitting through one thousand something posts of bickering. Someone care to give me the low down on if this is happening or not? I’m supposed to be on in 20min for ZG but stuck in 4 hour queue. Any chance of these layers being added in the next 15min or so? Thanks guys!

They have yet to repond to anything here or comment at all on it. Looks like a lot of people won’t be able to see zul’gurub tonight.

Hurry up blizzard flip that switch…?

Look layering fine if we contain it to your servers. You guys should be locked there then, I don’t need someone scoping out another server to take their 10 stacks of BL.

I know you guys want queue relief for YOU but the rest of us don’t want the collateral damage from it.

Yes, bring back layering. BRING IT BACK!
