i really don’t think layering is the right choice. the 4 dragons are right around the corner, and i can only expect layering to make that a nightmare. plus, even as a casual player myself, the constant layer exploitation in p1 felt pretty bad–since i didn’t participate, i felt like i fell behind automatically. i only really tolerated layering because i knew it would be over soon enough, and the game felt much better when it was gone.
i would rather sit in a multi-hour queue than have layering on.
As someone on a server with a queue time of over 4 hours during peak time. Yes I am ok with the market taking a hit to allow more people to be on the server. It would be nice if there was a way to hand out discipline to those abusing layering however.
Hard yes to layering on high pop servers (I am on Whitemane). Anyone who votes no to layering has to be either on a low/med pop server or has a pipe dream of increasing server caps to infinity with a single layer.
NO, if Blizzard was to go out and start banning the bots that are running around in loops there would not be hour long ques, there might be short ones, but when there are videos of 15 bots running in a loop in a single area you can bet there are 100s of bots all over doing the same thing.
The first thing that happens with layering is people laying hoping to farm, and that is not good for any server. People are geared up, people have multiboxes, this would not be good for the server.
Start by banning the bots, I am 100% sure that ques will drop by a lot just by doing this.
Please don’t turn it back on. It was forseeable that the busy servers would have queues again down the line with the way things were chosen to be handled in the beginning, and people knew what it means to play on a high pop server.
Transfers were offered, and apparently still in many cases not taken for reasons i feel like are very understandable. The consequences of that are simply that: queues, and that’s what has been chosen by those players.
Please don’t change the entire game again midway through just to increase accessibility. Stick to your word about layering, and it being gone COMPLETELY after its initial use.
Players dont need their hands held even if they may make you believe that. It was entirely in their hands. Let things balance out naturally instead. People will transfer or switch off if they REALLY want to, and make a compromise.
Don’t let the game make compromises for the players. It’s not how it used to work, and just cause it can now, doesn’t mean it’s the right way to respond to this situation. Let it play out, it will be fine.
Is it not possible to just raise the cap?
What goes into this cap? I don’t understand the purpose or even need for laying.
Is it about hardware and server performance or is it some social concern, like if there are too many players online, it will ruin the economy or something?
To me, there should be no cap unless it makes the servers crash.
If people want to play on a huge server, let them.
That’s the only way Classic works well if you ask me.
Being on a small server ruined it for me.
Why not try other solutions like a mass transfer based on a sign up sheet that showed what the server population would be once the mass transfer took place? its a complex solution but could prove useful, or even variation of it could work as well. This would hopefully incentives people to actually transfer to high disparity Horde v Alliance servers because they would know if the server they are transferring to would have shorter to no queues as well as a good horde v alliance population.
I absolutely do not want layering back. We told you classic wow would need more servers at launch and you didn’t listen. We told you faction based queue would be necessary to balance out the realms. You didn’t listen. We told you server transfers would break realms. You still would not listen.
The entire point of no changes was to stop you from screwing around with the game so you can implement your so called fixes that leaves Blizzard the highest amount of profit with the least amount of work balance be damned.
If you want to fix the current issue start here:
Open up free transfers from the highest populatated realms.
Restrict these transfers to the dominant faction.
Enable faction based queue to incentivize the majority faction to transfer.
Start massively implementing anti botting measures.
No layering. The economy is already inflating to never before seen levels as It is. The above solutions WILL not fix everything but, it will leave a majority of the realms much better off than anything you have done so far or that layering will do.
As someone who has been playing on Whitemane since classic launch i can say wholeheartedly that we need layers back. Every day constant 2-3 hour queues and on tuesday and weekends its easily over 4 hours at peak times. Everyone of my guildmates is sick and tired of having to log on 4 hours before any raid just so they can participate. Its just so unbearable and adds to the burnout classic wow can create. Not to mention ZG is releasing this Wednesday. I cant even imagine what the ZG launch will look like once without layering. Please please please bring layering back just as long as this pandemic is going on.
For the love of god, please release this ASAP. We are losing raiders and players left and right bc we are sitting at 4-5 hour queues on Whitemane. For our sanity, please release this.
Hell NO! You screwed up and now you are trying to fix these predictable population problems you created with more retail “solutions” that bring up even more problems that conflict with the core game design! You can’t even get right a remake of a 15 year old game…
Layers in P1 did irreversible damage to the game as we know it… You guys never learn…
yes please, id prefer layering to be on permanently anyways, black lotus spawns are already an issue with the amount of people on the server so this might help economies anyways.
We’ve seen the impact that this has on resources found in the world. For better or worse they would be more common. The biggest unknown to me is how this impacts world bosses and their spawns.
Will we go from having 2 world bosses spawning in a window (Azure+Kazzak) to 12? (Azure+Kazzak+4Emerald dragons all*2)? That seems like a lot.
Would the bosses spawn on all layers at the same time? What happens if you’re trying to form up a raid to kill one but accidentally end up on the wrong layer?
IDK if its at all possible, but not having layering in the 6 wold boss zones seems like the right approach, regardless of if it exists in other areas of the world.
