Open Question: An Alternative to Queues?

Yes we need layers

100% fine with adding layers back to the game.

Layering in 2020  . You guys let them bring back layering we might as well keep it.

Well at least this should shut up everyone who claimed layering didn’t impact population cap…

And to answer the question yeah i’m totally fine with it, better to be playing on a layered server than sit in a queue.

Thank you for talking about this option AFTER you do a half assed fix on incendius and destroy the server.

No. Login queues were part of Vanilla. If you want to make it up to players, give free days like you did in 2004/2005 :stuck_out_tongue:

Please bring back layering to fix the issue.

All the people from Grobbulus responding with no are completely missing the situation.

we’re not talking about Grobbulus, this would go in place for the FULL servers like whitemane, herod, faerlina where people are waiting 4-5 hours in queues to log in.

Yes. The long queue times have made it so most of my guild doesn’t log on during the week, and raid nights are almost always delayed and rushed, which isn’t fun.

Better to play the game then sit in Q. Just bring it back until the Q’s go back down.

I am 100% willing to deal with the consequences of layering returning in order to circumvent queue times. As it is, I don’t even bother trying to log in during my evenings because it’s a 3 hour wait if I’m lucky. With ZG coming out in just 2 days, they’ll only get worse from here. Thanks for the open question, it’s refreshing to see discussion tossed our way for once.

Yes layering is fine.

PROVIDED IT IS DONE RIGHT.

Meaning world bosses/spawns of world bosses are not affected. So limited layering outside world boss zones if possible.

NO. The only time that we should ever see layering again is in TBC for Hellfire Peninsula.

Layering unless it’s across every single server will give a serious advantage to the AQ war effort and launch, and number of bug mounts to those servers with queues. There are servers without queues that are nearly 100% alliance, or nearly 100% horde that could use layering just because of population.

I think the best option is connected realms, and do it pre-AQ war effort. Connect realms to rebalance horde vs alliance populations. Split then connect realms that have queues.

Guild leader of a successful, large guild on one of the largest/most queue plagued servers.

Yes for all that is good and right in this world do this.

2nd. Please adjust node respawns to account for the increased populations on almost all servers of how the nodes were balanced.

As much as everyone cries about layer hoping for resource farming it’s a red herring argument. even with layer hoping for resource farmign there are woefully inadequate spawns to support populations 5-6 times the vanilla server size.

So again Please Please Please Please bring on the #coronalayers to deal with the #coronaqueues.

Finally a real solution rather than trying to force xfers onto dead servers, which is an impossible sell to successful guilds on the mega servers even if we wanted to xfer you can’t convince people to xfer to dead servers.

As to the answer to how it would affect my game play: it would help it immensely; I could play and I’d be able to have a more healthy relationship with game as it is I have to stay at my pc just to stay logged in so my raiding characters are available to raid.

This is absolutely necessary to help our front line workers who can’t remote log in, or stay in afk.

Please give them a better opportunity to escape the real world into WoW after they get off work.

Why can’t layers simply be added to cities only? that’s the only part that ever has any issues. You can do that and increase the cap and the servers would be fine.

Thank you for posting this! I have not been able to log on Whitemane in over a week and my sub died 2 days ago. I have still been going to work and coming home to queue is unrealistic. Seeing that my family also plays on the server I would gladly re-sub if I could play the game without waiting in queue again. Please enable layering.

No, Only because of longer Horde queue times for pvp, black lotus, double dipping world boss spawns.

“If your realm was experiencing one-hour (or longer) queues during peak play times every day, would you want your realm temporarily increased to two layers, to shorten the queue? How do you think that would change your gameplay experience?”

My realm currently is experiencing queues of 2 to 4 hours, it was at 6 to 7 hours last week. I believe increasing to two layers even temporary until the Covid-19 epidemic ends and society balances out to how it was before which could be months post the end of stay at home orders would be a positive for Whitemane.

In regards to my gameplay, at the moment to even raid I have to either stay in game all day or preparing my login time around the possible queues. I am a retail player as well so I have to spend my time choosing if its worth playing my retail account when I may not be able to return to Classic that day.

Layering could fix these problems and make burnout less of an issue and allow guilds to continue playing together without requiring risks of transfering to other servers who may react negatively to an influx of players and take it out on them.

In conclusion, Blizzard has always seemed to be a company that wanted to make sure players had as many abilities as possible to remain a social community on their server and with their guild, but when a majority of your players either cannot log in or get disconnted due to a power outtage and then cannot return. It makes it quite hard to feel that community in game when we can’t all play together.
