Open Question: An Alternative to Queues?

Layering is a garbage system and has no place in Classic WoW. Find a way to ban the literally thousands of bots currently in game and the queues will vanish. There is no need for layering.

This thread is gonna make one interesting case study.

If that were the case an my realm, then yes, I would want to temporarily turn on layering until the pop cooled.

I for one have no problems with layering/sharding/etc. Especially on PvE servers.

Sheesh, I was just asking a question. If you play on a server without queues, then the suggested fix wouldnt affect you.

Whitemane is fairly balanced, so faction queues wont help us one bit.

Yes. Please add it as a temp fix to this 5+ hour queues.

Yes! 5-6 hours queues after 2 PM are destroying guilds right now.

Wouldnt layering as needed just encourage more people to play on already full servers?

Adding layering back to specific servers BEFORE a material gated event, to only high populated realms that should have no problem anyways? Layering to resolve failures made from launch ( low initial server count)? How about a thought process and resolution, not a bandaid. Maybe some forethought before exploring more ways to ruin the majority of player experiences and nostalgia. Numerous realms out there that are completely boned.

No to layering it’s going to destroy the community. If people don’t like the queues they should transfer off. This virus isn’t going away and I don’t want to be stuck with layering and its consequences for the rest of classic.

There needs to be a permanent and sustainable solution to population and layering is not it.

Layering may fix some issues, but the main problem is Blizzard allowing server transfers that then put servers into a large que timer. Transfers should only be to low pop/medium pop realms. They should also lower the server cap to help this issue as well.

I am by no means a fan of layering. I hated it when it was active. Blizzard needs to come up with a different strategy other than layering in-game to adjust the lotus hijacking. 200+ gold for a flask is absurd.

Please do it.

Little late on this one Blizzy, lol.

I would hope that adding layering in would not result in the removal of the current paid xfer locks. Those need to remain in place for the duration of the current crisis at a minimum.

Yes. And fix all the other things the community is almost unanimously for like: Black Lotus spawns and spell batching. #NoChanges was because people didn’t trust your dev team to make the right decisions, but having 2004 mechanics like spell batching - a bug-fix that became a “feature” - is not fun or good game design in 2020.

Layer it up Blizz

Yes, 2 layers seems way better than 9. please keep the realms locked to prevent any type of abuse.

Even with the lock (which, while good, does nothing for current queue) it’s much less incentive to transfer or play anywhere else.

This post is the ultimate example of how modern day Blizzard works. Lets overreact to a momentary increase in ques by completely changing the way the game plays, leading to tons of unforeseen consequences instead of riding out the COVID player spike.

STOP snap reacting to things, throwing band aids all over the place and think of LONG TERM solutions to problems. Problems that wouldn’t exist by the way if server pops and layering were never introduced in the first place.
