Absolutely bring back the layers…you have to have at least a modicum of an idea of how bad multi hour queues are for your player base.
let the crybabies cry about layers but let us player our game that we pay for.
There are many people who are still having to work to deal with the real world only to get denied the ability to play because theres a 3 hour queue by the time they get off work .
This only changes things for the best in terms of our game play.
Also, please please adjust spawn rates to account for the non vanilla like raiding guild populations on whitemane and other servers.
Im in favor of anything that fixes queues and the overpopulation of a once low population server. I feel like Im being forced to pay for a server transfer on earthfury because i chose it as low population only for it to be flooded with players. Turn on layering or increase population cap and resources, PLEASE.
I cannot Upvote this enough. Crazy ammounts of bots on all high pop servers, they are logged in forever holding spots and do nothing for the game.
Bring back layers. 3 hour plus queues to play? Normal people cant be on. Bring back layers and fix the spawn rates to address the huge population. Please get this fixed!
No Layers. This is not what it should have been and Layers were never intended to stay. They can not be the only solution out there. Rather go for a hardware update. If you got 10k people on your server, this is often what you decided for. You peeps are probably there because you like it and I get it. What makes it unbearable are Qs and Laggs, tho.
Please bring back layers. Layers make life much easier.
I mean, classic does feel good, but only if you can play it right?

The people who really suffering from the 3 hour queue will vote for laying for sure. I bet everyone against layering is either not in high pop server, or don’t understand it’s the multibox bot causing such long queue and blizzard is obligated to solve the situation.
If your realm was experiencing one-hour (or longer) queues during peak play times every day, would you want your realm temporarily increased to two layers, to shorten the queue?
I would absolutely approve of dynamic layering or even layering staying full time for the larger servers. Having a queue of 3+ hours (current whitemane estimate, but likely going to be longer as people are parking alts logged in) is anti-playing the game (any version of wow). A 3+ hour queue on classic will make me almost never log into my retail account. I’ve had to dip out of my raid group on retail in the past due to these queues and now that they are back, It’s going to be extremely hard to switch back and forth as I’ll be stuck in classic.
How do you think that would change your gameplay experience?
The only thing that I actively see layering used for for is World Buffs, Black Lotus, and specific world spawns (Twilight Lords in Silithus). Whitemane’s population is already so bloated that trying to time/compete for these on a single layer is incredibly difficult already. A second (or more) layer allows for more relaxed playstyle - resulting is less stress focused on logistical tasks outside of gameplay and more enjoyable experience. I have to log in HOURS ahead of a 6pm PT raid in order to make sure I can make it with queues - and many others are doing the same thing - not playing, but afking to not be hit by the queue when they are schedule to actually be part of a raid group.
Really it’s a retention mechanic that if kept in the current form will result in continued churn of our raiders, guildies, and from a business perspective subs to the game. By allowing queues back, that friction of should I play or not goes way up - and every time queues happen we see people churn from the game via game quitting.
The Massive servers available in classic are already a huge change form the server cap size with vanilla - trying to keep them #nochanges is a change in and of itself due to the limited resources artificially placed (both in game and queues).

As if going into classic y’all didn’t know black lotus and crystals would be exploited or market cornered by certain people anyways.
Don’t want to play? Cool… sit in your long queue. Layering was a fix to an issue that made it easy on both sides. No herb is worth 100+ gold in a game that is simple enough to clear the main raid in an hour.
It’s HIGHLY unlikely they will update their hardware for a temporary fix.
Oh one last thing about the lotus/crystal market.
If you are one of the people that farm them for the easy money… tell me how much gold you’re making sitting in a 3 hour queue? 0. And this also kills guilds/servers.
No one wins. Just enable layering.

some of the issues is people simply not logging in until later, others are still working through covid19.
the bottom line is, the fact that some realms are still getting multi hour queues after all is said and done so I really think that if an extra layer will fix the problem then I, as well as basically everyone I know, would very much like that.
yes, world buffs are a much larger pain to get with even one layer but playing the game when we want to and not 2-3 hours from the proverbial now is more important

Raid nights hit the hardest. Getting 40 people together when you’re not a huge guild with multiple replacements is frustrating when you have to deal with 2-3 hour queues. If anyone disconnects they’re stuck in a queue and affecting 39 other people.
I’m willing to deal with the downsides to layers for the stability it provides with the ability to actually play the game without having to plan hours ahead of when you want to log on.
If you refuse to aggressively ban botters that continuously hold spots on servers, you need to implement layering for players to actually be able to access the game at a reasonable time with reasonable consistency.

Why is it considered an exploit? If servers are twice as big as they used to be, wouldnt twice the node spawns be more in line with the scarcity of nodes in vanilla? its actually more congruent with #Nochanges to double the nodes than to cut them in half per player.

It seems like bots, primarily lotus farming bots, are the main issue contributing to the queues.
I suggest resolving that issue.

Lets take a shot at the 50+ bots in every zone before resorting to layering … not enable more spots for bots to log in . you think there is a ton now wait until you put laying back and the bots dont need to fight each other for a realm spot they will keep for 24 + hours a day

If you could bring layers back and leave them on to get rid of the queues, that would be fantastic.

I actually thought this was a new thread and I was happy they finally responded and wanted to know what we wanted… and then I looked at the date.
Layer is fine. At least we can login for buffs etc without wait for an hour.
