I’m honestly just astonished by the question.

That, to me, would be the best and easiest to implement solution.
It already exists, and it causes no real disruptions.
Actively grouping keeps people together layerwise, and chat spans all layers.
And any things that arise from the layers, like some guy got 8 lotus instead of 4, or killed a world boss twice etc are trivialized by the fact that 1000’s of people can not play at all.
I dont even have queues presently on my realm, and i still feel for all those who simply can not log in at all.
They did not cause a global pandemic making everyone have to go home and stay home.
I am less astonished by their asking than i am by a lot of players who’s responses equate to not caring if people can not play as long as someone does not get an extra boss drop, or some silly lotus plants.
129 min queue… if you can’t support your player base then just admit it. Getting sick of wasting time in line for a game that has a sub fee.
Please bring layering back already. 6 hour queues yesterday. 6 HOURS. We have raiders wanting to quit the game. If you love subscriptions you should love layering. It’s a short term fix for this short term problem but we need it ASAP. The nay-sayers will still play the game with layering, the people that can’t log in will unsub.

Just make another layer for raiders. If you enter and down a boss, you are moved to another layer until you log out. You cannot get back to layer 2 unless you enter another raid and down a boss. The queues are exceptionally high on typical raid nights and this idea might be a way to speed up the queues while not implementing server wide layering.
100 person queue, 40 people down a boss, queue goes down to 60, 40 man raid moved to layer 2 until they log out. Layer 2 is not accessible unless you have a raid ID created on your current session, or you down a boss for those poor guilds who take multiple days to clear BWL. Ideally layer 2 would have longer respawns on high value nodes.
Or do layering with a cooldown for layer swaps, the party will always move to the layer of the player with the longest time left on their cooldown, and will reset the CD for layer swaps of all players every time a new person joins.
you either want layering or you dont.
You idea would take so long to develop and implement that it puts you in the dont/no category.
That is not remotely something they can implement quick to alleviate the queue issue.
They already had CD on layer swapping before it was removed. If you read my post you would see I said “or add it back in with strict CD timers”
I don’t want layering, but I also don’t want my server to be the next on death list.
No idea what it would take to implement, it was an idea I had. And you never know, blizzard might have the ability to add it in relatively easily. Your name isn’t blue so I can only assume you don’t have access to their server code. You could already change layers by simply joining a party. Why can’t a downed boss be a trigger like joining a party would be? I was only putting out an idea that would hopefully keep the “one layer only plz” crowd happy while letting the raid loggers get their business done and log back out.
What do I care anyway, my sub runs out in 10 days and if “FREE TRANSFERS TO THIS POOR SERVER” is the only solution offered, it will stay that way.
Definitely bring back layering. These ques are killing our raid team.

YES! Shortening queues is one of the most important things for many servers (such as mine, Herod) and of the many ways, this is far from a bad option. Although I would also request faction bias for queues (favoring the lesser faction a little more than the dominant) as this would make Herod playable for alliance again, but I don’t expect this to happen, just throwing it out there.
Yes please 2 layers so we can have 2 times more Bots farming 2 times more Black lotus and stuff. U Blues dont seem to understand do u? STOP letting ppl transfer to a FULL server. Is it full? Then make it full! Stop going around in circles again and again, the simple and obvious solution is to make free transfer avaiable at ALL full servers, that includes Benediction, Faerlina and Incendious with some rules for each. At Benediction only Alliance players should b able to transfer off and Horde In. Faerlina LOCK DOWN the server pls, its been quite a few months u guys make servers die and leftovers transfer to Faerlina. Incendious make the same rules as Benediction. Also encourage ppl to transfer, idk how its not my job to think that for u. DO NOT put layers back in.

but i do have their situation of being hampered by trying to do everything remotely suddenly
And the players situation is without saying, their problem is in the here and now this very second, not the several weeks from now after testing etc.

why even ask our opinion if you aren’t going to do anything about it. something needed to be done 2 weeks ago you are slow as molasses

If you would remove all the bots that have literally infested WoW Classic, that would help queue times immensely.
I think something definitely has to be done and this needs to be addressed. I missed my full week of raids with my guild because of this, even trying to log in 3 hours in advance didn’t help and it was a 5 hour queue, for both nights Wednesday and Thursday on Herod. The servers should be larger. I hate to say it because I don’t like layering but for the first month of a new release it needs to be done for the game to be at least playable. Once the queues start going down heavily I think layering can be pulled off again.
Layer away as playing is more important and 3-4 hour Q times are a bit out of hand for most people.

I’ve got no problems with layering being turned on temporarily to help with Que times.

I would love for layers to come back. It would make my gameplay experience much more enjoyable.
