Only 19 rating per win below 1200

I’m just about DONE with arenas… even though by some miracle I’ve been doing okay in Havoc spec with the right legendary and build, why bother pushing to 1400 and beyond when I’m still stuck at a wall because each win gives only a paltry couple of rating points? You wanna talk about shortages, well there’s technically no longer an anima shortage, since they’ve fixed that with achievements… how about we do the same with arena, or just SOMETHING to fix this? It’s going to take me MONTHs to reach 2400 at this rate, so I’m just done with it… Mythic+ is actually better for me now as Vengeance to gear up, especially since they’ve been taking steps to fix a LOT of what was wrong with it so far in Shadowlands… I mean, just look at this…

Name ONE expansion where arena was actually fun / engaging / proportionally rewarding (key words here) for time and effort put in… go on, I’m waiting…

It’s not going to take you months to reach 2400.
It’s statistically impossible for the average player to hit it, especially in 2’s right now.

I just woke up and I’m too lazy to go dig for the other sources, but 3v3 is actually around the .5% and RBGs the 1% for 2400.

Meanwhile, Mythic Nathria…
And +15’s - which Ion himself has compared the difficulty of to hitting 2400 (ffs).

The PvP rewards structure is broken and too hyper-exclusive to the point it’s killing participation, and funneling people into buying boosts - whether for gear, or for the cosmetics. But say anything about this, and you’re asking for a hand-out for a mini-game that has never been balanced.

Whole system needs a rehaul.

Never done arena and would love to one day. FYI anima still has a very long way to go to be fixed/

It’s still better now than before, since they put achievements in to give us more anima from each world quest… even Mythic+ got an improvement with Valor… both are better than doing nothing… literally all Blizzard has to do is SLIGHTLY up the amount of rating for wins, or better yet just gate the upgrade ranks behind achievements for farming honor from Rated PVP rather than rating, which is the same requirement as the Great Vault rewards… but until future patch notes prove otherwise, they haven’t done anything to fix the rating system, so I’m just not gonna bother with that…

Thank You for information.

I hate to be the one to discourage others from any content, but the way arena is now, you’ll only be frustrated more than you actually have fun… the subject of my topic illustrates only part of why… if you still insist on progressing through rated PVP, I would highly recommend random battlegrounds instead, though at some point you will most likely hit some sort of wall in your progression… unless I’m wrong about the specific numbers, I’m pretty sure rating gains / losses are calculated the same way for all three modes of rated play…

The reason for this is because people of higher gear level are lower rating. I started looking myself. And every loss basically brings you close back to net 0 or something like +2 if you lose 2 and win 2. Ive noticed this on RBGs as well.

Plenty of fixes that could be implimented. For example, once you hit ilevel 197 upgarde or 200 with conquest Gear, have rated PvP give you something to upgrade into higher tiers. This way thre will actually be competition, and youll reward people for playing a bunch of games instead of honor and conquest you cant use.

I shouldnt be facing dudes with 20 ilevel higher at my same rating, consistnetly.

your mmr is 1200, therefore playing around a 1200 level is only going to net you about 12 per win unless im mistaken, that goes up the more you win to ‘appropriate’ you towards a mmr more around your level

THIS, although it’s not just a gear discrepancy, the bigger deal is that the elite-skilled pvp’ers (defined as having reached Duelist and buying a full set of 226 gear) are all over the 1200-1400 bracket. If I had 100 gold for every time I lost a 2v2 matchup and checked the other team’s armory page to find someone with a 233 weapon, then I could buy a carry like everyone else in 2v2 is doing.

It just keeps getting harder and harder to get to 1400, because there are more and more elite players carrying and fewer real sub-1400 players. I actually hit 1400 early in the season, but now with much better gear I can’t even crack 1300 because almost every game is against Duelists/Gladiators. It’s insane

Then you have people like me in the 1200 bracket helping my friends gear with 226 ilevel.

It ain’t that.

Arenas broken right now.

RBGs are pretty bad too, you should be able to hit 1800 though.

The issue is 2100 is gatekept by carry teams and rank 1 players.

You aren’t actually facing other 2k rated players at 2k.

You are facing boosters, rank 1 players, gladiator alts, ect. All playing the best meta comps.

This is why i suggested you lower the rating requirements for gear.

Why stop casual players from gearing? Its dumb.

The elite players will still get their gear either way, making it a 1800 and 2100 requirement is arbitrary and only hurts the average player.

Legion was fun and engaging. Not proportionally rewarding at all, but definitely the first two.

So is nobody going to mention how OP recorded a 1 minute video with scuffed sound showing the end of match screen?

I agree and think that this is a very inaccurate comparison. I got KSM and it wasn’t too bad, but then I tried getting back into 2s late in the season and I’m hard stuck under 1400. ;/

Sadly I wasn’t around during Legion… or WoD… or MoP, both due to real life issues, and because I felt MoP looked more like a kids’ TV show than actual WoW…

On the topic of those, MoP and WoD were also highly rewarding for PvP, and some of the best PvP expansions. WoD even had a specific elite mog for season 1 which wasn’t a mythic copy of another set.

In the future, I would advise actually trying a piece of content before so easily dismissing it. MoP was great. You know the saying: don’t judge a book by its cover.

Shows just how inept Ion really is when actually designing systems…

Yes, nobody but you is going to mention that, because:

  1. You can always turn the sound off

  2. No need to let my toaster of a computer distract you from the point being made…

  3. You’re literally the only one here so far even focusing on that…

:woman_shrugging:

Point taken, I would have loved to play WoW longer and actually see MoP for what it was when that expansion was relevant content, but again: REAL LIFE ISSUES got in the way in 2012… to the point where I couldn’t really get back into WoW until late 2019…

Everybody has real life issues. I don’t take issue with that. We all have points where something comes up where we can’t play. My comment is more to the point of suggesting:

This wasn’t the best mentality to have.

Maybe not, but if someone came out with a Barney And Friends / Teletubbies MMO, I doubt you’d want to play it…

:woman_shrugging:

I don’t think comparing Asian culture and influences, along with showcasing a race more in depth that we’ve had since WC3 to Barney is accurate.
