Once again, punishes casual players!

My group and I are semi casual… the +15 seems a little steep but at the same time it gives us something to work toward that might just last through the entirety of the season for us. Admittedly if we fall short in the end it’s going to feel super bad. Some half steps would be really nice like:
Time 5s for 207
Time 7s or 8s for 210
Time 10s for 213
Time 12s or 13s for 216
Time 15s for 220

There’s a big gap between timing 10s and timing 15s

As a casual myself (don’t really do much that I can’t queue for), I think the system is fine, with the exception that the gap is a little wide. 197 gear, and try to find a weapon is a far cry from 226 gear. Maybe if you could upgrade covenant gear to 207-210 range.

I admit i was frustrated when I got my conquest weapon, and figured out that I couldn’t upgrade it at all without PVP ranking. Sweet, 3 ilvl upgrade…

I totally don’t mind, and understand, that getting ranked should have it’s rewards, but it makes it pointless to do pvp if you don’t want to play ranked stuff. The gap was not always this wide.

I always think this excuse is pointless when some people does easier content for even a longer time for some reward. Dev team 2 rewarded people that did easier content for a long time with like bonus rolls and the old valor system.

But we cant be happy with peons using the elite toys in this game

No the real gear envy when the casuals got almost same gear as the so called elites. This been a outcry form BC catch up gear till SL.

What makes your opinion on what casual should mean any more valid than the others?

Existed because there wasn’t anything else to do for 5 man content besides grinding the same heroics. Had there been a viable alternative like M+ to get raid level gear more casually it would have made that system obsolete

You seem fun.

If the game is to be taken srsly as an esport, everyone has to be on equal footing. Otherwise, it isn’t an esport. Pretty simple.

Notice that for tournaments, they let everyone get the same gear. Why do you think that is?

MDI and AWC are the esports hosted by Blizzard on tournament realms, RWF is not. It’s hosted entirely by 3rd parties and should really be viewed as something different.

Preparation is part of anything competitive, but planning to maximize your gear going into the raid is an additional piece that’s unique to the RWF. If you take that away, you end up with the Ultimate fights from FF14 where players were at the intended ilvl at the time of release. World first for those fights came down solely to who could figure out obtuse mechanics first rather than pushing for incredibly tight DPS checks with raid comps decided on precisely to survive or push certain mechanics.

This isn’t really about the RWF anyway. Gear progression is part of raid progression and always has been. They’re designed with it in mind, and you’re supposed to watch your group’s power increase over a period of time to match the parts of the raid your group is struggling with.

I’m sure Mythic raiders would enjoy not needing to run splits just the same. Giving everyone gear just makes everything less painful.

wanna know 3 sure fired ways to into high keys?

  1. Do more dungeons and do the ones you have done yet. You’re missing SD/NW/DoS
  2. Run your own key.
  3. Buy a carry

Not everyone looks at this game as an esport. The key pushing community knows the type of pulls are almost always impossible for the regular players. I know that if I attempt those pulls 8 out of 10 I’ll be kissing the floor. Everyone here is on equal footing. Everyone has this magic button called “Start Group”. Some just dont want to take responsibility on their action in the game because “it’s just a game” they rather push on the responsibility to other player and complains when these other player just decide to ignore them.

There’s no requirement to do this at all. My main doesn’t even have every dungeon timed at + 5 yet.

If anything, valor points skew in favor of players in the M0-M+5 category, who will tend to see the most benefit from this particular reward system. It will also allow them to see the quickest upgrades from 184 onwards.

You’re absolutely right on all counts. To this end I have started a “learners mythic team” in my guild and we spend some time every Thursday working on these exact things for folks. I’ve resisted the urge to buy a carry–I won’t give anyone my login, which means I’d have to tank it. Well, that’s not entirely true I guess: I could always just go as the Ret carry

Skipping two raid levels and about all the M+ end of dungeon loot just by doing WQs? I’d benefit greatly but that’s way too high imo. Just being around 200 now is basically invincible in the open world.*

*Excluding wpvp obviously

I think you’ve misunderstood what buying a carry means. You dont have to give anyone your account detail in game. You basicly pay someone gold then sit afk in the dungeon while the team you bought the carry from will complete the dungeon for you.

Ok I’m high a lot so forgive me if I remember this incorrectly.
But didn’t World quest scale with your ilvl? You didn’t actually get high ilvl gear unless you already had high ilvl gear?

Maybe 440 or 445 once in a while from emissary quests?
