Lol, nice try sweets. Maybe better luck with next?
Did any of you actually read the article that OP posted? https://massivelyop.com/2021/03/11/vague-patch-notes-the-sneering-elitism-of-the-mmo-term-welfare-epics/
It unintentionally describes the current economic disparities in US society that is prevalent today, due to Reagonimics and the modern conservative movement.
OH WOW you’re really good. 2/10M
If you are casual then you dont care about ilvl. If you care about ilvl git gud
To be fair, everyone’ll probably start 9.1 with free 226 gear, so technically all effort now is pointless.
Something that a lot of people forget is if they made it to where you can get Mythic ilvl from doing solo content like World Quests, that means that top end players would have to do so too. And for me personally, I don’t want to have to World Quest anymore. This xpac showcases to me that Blizz struggles with creating an engaging world without relying on things like AP.
Nah 9.1 we start this arguments again. But this time about 280 gear or whatever the cap is
Are you seriously comparing the effort required to kill mythic bosses to that of killing 8 random boars?
Thats cause anyone not using it that way is wrong. You dont know how words work.
Because players don’t feel stronger as they level do to scaling.
Gear is key.
Even when you pve
I kind of think alts should be allowed one tier lower than your highest M+ unlock for gearing up…
So if your main is +5 all Mythic Pluses No Benefit
+10 all mythic plus, alts can gear to the +5 restriction
+15 all mythic plus, alts can gear to the +10 restriction (this would be the limit).
That would motivate me to get some alts going (and my main doing M+, but I gear from Normal/Heroic raiding). but other people might not feel that is fair, maybe?
So let’s get this straight
I refuse.
I like that they want there to be a sense of progression with difficulty and better loot. I don’t like that this is watered down by paid boosts. I suppose however it could be argued that skill plays a part in keys and raiding as well though. So if there were no gimmicks to get an upgrade to 220 would that fully geared out 220 player have a much easier time in a high key or Mythic raid? The answer I can imagine is likely not at all.
Not all of us are into mythics. It’s not that I can’t, it’s that I don’t want to. Running dungeons against a timer is not my source of fun. Leveling alts, experiencing the storyline through different characters, running old content for transmog are my source of fun. As soon as I got my main and a few alts to an ilvl for LFR, I stopped caring about getting better gear. I got what I wanted, the covenant transmog set, a run through Nathria, and a few more unlocked allied races.
So again if you are wanting to level your gear past like 200or around there then you are not playing an alt you are playing a main. Alts are those that are able to function doing world questing and low keys along with lfr or normal CN and that is all that is expected of them. If you want higher end gear then stop saying it is an alt and be ready to put the work in and stop expecting everything to be fed to you. I have not even done a mythic this expansion because I know the gear from it is not what I am striving for as I am not a mythic raider therefore do not need that gear. I can do heroic CN just from the gear you get from everything else. I have 11 alts and they are all around 190-210 and I dont expect much more until the next level of gear comes out for everyone. That is how it works.
What they should have done, and I can’t believe I have to say this it should be common sense for any competent developer, is made ALL gear from the previous patch and this patch upgradeable
I tried to wrack my brain for a bit to come up with the programmable solution to tagging previously generated items with the new system but it seems pretty feasible that they either couldn’t or the resource cost was too much and could only add the “upgradable” tag from newly generated items.
I worry about super low drop rates in older raids and dungeons. Beyond that nothing.
I don’t agree with this. I’m always interested in improving my gear. I also find it really challenging to get into higher keys. Okay, I’ve never gotten into one period. The valor system is stupid as implemented. The gating factor should be cost of upgrades, not key value.
But in recent years Blizzard has really catered to the whole “I did it the hard way, so everyone else should have to do it that way too” combined with “content is too easy” mentality. There is a lot of content that I won’t ever play. For the most part I can live with it but now gearing is totally gated by it (at least in the short term) and that radically impairs my ability to even try harder content.
Add in how sociopathic the internet is and how toxic many “non-casual” players are, even mentioning it leads to abusive responses.
Yes, designing a system that negates an entire raid teir sounds like a logical solution…just because some players don’t want to do end game
Actually, it theoretically doesn’t negate the system.
Systems like that were designed with the thinking that players don’t ruin things for others. Meaning: people would be willing to help each other out.
Instead we have things like Raider IO.
Because the player base has got to player base. I mean, I get it, I really do- but then you guys want to complain because Bliz puts in catch up systems to encourage people to go run the other content.
See, this is why I could never PUG anymore, just player attitudes towards each other in general.
Story time (some of you have heard this before):
Back during the time of the dinosaurs when everyone lived in Northrend Dalaran and no one went anywhere else because people had to still manually put raids together, it was a Sunday or a Monday.
I happened to be on my Paladin and I saw a guy needed a tank for ICC 10m. And, him not thinking clearly was asking for a ridiculous GS on a day in which almost everyone had already done the thing on their mains the Friday or Saturday before.
So, I offered to tank, since at that point, he had been looking for an hour.
“What’s your GS?”
me: “You are aware that today is Sunday/Monday and everyone’s already done their ICC runs for the week, right? Why are you asking for my GS? You’ve been looking for an hour. I know the fights even though I’ve never actually tanked the place. If we have 1 wipe due to tank error, feel free to ridicule me in trade.”
“Fine.”
(Close enough to how that convo went.)
Well, no wipes happened and we got all the way to Saurfang. The funniest part though is when I hopped into vent and THAT’S when it dawned on the group as to who I was (I used to be known on my server).
“Well, why didn’t you just say it was Twil? I would have let you come on your tank no questions asked.”
“Cause I wanted to prove a point.”
If more players put merit into giving people a try, then we wouldn’t have snarky people like this one.
The problem with posts of this type are that casual players will usually agree, and non-casual players will disagree and a disproportionate amount will be extremely dismissive and toxic. Welcome to the internet: creating sociopaths since 1986.
