I remember Spoc. Troll Warrior… I think Arms spec. I don’t remember him being in Ascension for a terribly long time. I think he transferred from another server, raided with us for… um, a month maybe. I don’t remember. But I got the impression he wasn’t with you guys long after that. At least I didn’t see him around as much after.

Anyway, I got a lot of crap when I rerolled Horde side. But I was really tired of the drama. I didn’t know anyone Horde side, but Malkorvan of Ascension, made an account on our guild website (when I was GL of Sigil) and messaged me saying he thought I seemed cool from my posts on the WoW forum, and if I ever got tired of Alliance side I was welcome to try Ascension. Honestly, I was like, “How different could red pixels be from blue?” But yeah, I was tired. The constant fights over loot, people sabotaging raids on purpose because they hated the tank(bragged about doing it on vent when they thought they were in a private channel), people AoE DPS suiciding just so they could score higher on Recount for bragging rights. I mean, raiding Alliance side was straight up miserable. Still, I was trying to hold it all together, but yeah, just sucked putting up with it. Obviously, there was some good people Alliance side, but most the good ones kept leaving the server cause they were tired of the same crap.

So I cancelled my account, thinking I wasn’t coming back, then reactivated a week later and rerolled. I thought the Blood Elves looked cool, so whatever. Took me less than a month to go from Level 1 to Level 70 and keyed to raid. Ascension was just starting SSC and here I was raiding again. Gear drops, I’m thinking, “Ok, here comes the fights over loot.”

And Ascension people were literally fighting over gear like, “No, you should have it. It’s a bigger upgrade for you.” “Are you sure? I got the last one. You should have this one.”

I was like, “Um, what’s happening? I had no idea grown adults actually played this game.” But yeah, definitely good times. No idea what BWR is like now. I’m playing on a totally different server now with friends. But yeah, I remember peak Ascension days fondly.

Wow, I just had the urge to google the old realm and guild name and came across this thread. Hey Zmobie! I was Menkoy, the undead shadow priest in Defiance. I think I was there for most of the Serpentshrine firsts, and most of TK/BT. I miss the friendly rivalry we had with Ascension, and funny enough I remember someone from Defiance talking bad about Ascension and immediately being talked to about it, too. I haven’t found a guild or realm that I enjoyed as much. I hope you’re all doing well!

Hey man! It has been a while. We’re doing well, been playing some shadowlands with a few of the old guild over on Area-52. We’re debating getting some together to play TBC Classic raids still. Hit me up in game, we’ve only been back for a little over a month now, but we are pushing some mythic+ runs and getting close to the 15+ keys now.

oh yea defiance. but that was more late bc. it was slowmo vs ascension till late bc and sunwell when defiance came about, remember, yall used to have zero ace in ur guild, and zero ace was a beast

edit: to say slowmo beat ascension to lady vashj yes(im almost possitive ur wrong lovina. i was in ascesion for all of the incline). but the kael thas sunstrider moment in ascension ventrillo was my favorite memory in gaming ever.

Well this thread turned into a fun trip down memory lane. Shame what’s happened to BWR…I’ve been chasing the high of TBC Blackwater Raiders for more than decade lol. So many personalities.

Side Note: I think y’all are giving Slo Mo a little too much credit; they wouldn’t have gotten nearly as far as they did in t6 if Last Exile didn’t loan out half its raid team to Slo Mo for Slo Mo’s progression fights.

Best BC memory was Soulja re-enacting the Kael’thas monologue before every pull while we progged on him. What a guy lol.

Haha so much nostalgia in one thread. TBC was really my greatest memories. Thanks for making it special everybody.

Hey Soulja. Good to see you’re still around. Hope your guild over there does well.

I pretty much only play classic now. On Mankrik, “we” cleared Kara, Gruul, and Mag the first week of TBC. I say “we” because I’m not in a guild nor level 70 yet, but yeah, half the server walks around Org with their Champion of the Naaru title and full T4 gear. It’s sad to think of how many times we wiped on T4 on BWR and how people on Mankrik face roll it. Not sure I like that, but at least I always have good players to run stuff with.

Sorry. I’m all out of BWR stories. As for Soulja, I don’t think I ever teamed with him or even talked to him when I played Alliance side. But I talked to Thel and Pell from time to time and they spoke highly of him.

I do remember, I think it was Soulja, that made a comment on the forums about an Alliance guild named Fast Motion made to mock Slow Motion. I remember that because Tulkas, our guild leader in Ascension, said that he better not find out that it was any of us that did it. No one directly accused me of doing it, but since the other 99% of Ascension acted like they didn’t even know the Alliance existed at all and couldn’t name a single Alliance raiding guild, and I was the only one that was formerly Alliance, that some eyes looked at me for it.

By that time, I had deleted all my Alliance characters – most were level 70, so it was a little sad, and had all 10 of my character slots filled with Horde characters–who were nearly all level 70 by then(damn, I played a lot). So I posted a screen shot of all my characters on Ascension’s forums to show it couldn’t have been me. I don’t think anyone seriously thought it was, but I felt the need to prove so otherwise.

hello yes it me, Aakarshan, I don’t have that name anymore so I’m posting on an alt!

like a bad infection since late TBC I still cling onto BWR and sometimes even think about coming back to this server, but I know it’d never be the same. Kinda came here to check up on the state of my old favorite server before I maybe moved onto greener pastures in other games, I’m happy to see a big thread full of names I remember. I never realized how much I’d miss this place until it died. I hope everyone I used to play with is doing well.
