There was a lot of drama in the raid community alliance side. BWRs was a new server that opened past the midway point of Vanilla. We raided MC, Ony, and ZG. I donât know of any significant progress in BWL and the AQ gates wouldnât open until well after TBC. Certainly no one was hitting Naxx then. So yeah, not a well established raiding community, then TBC came out and new servers were opening for the expansion, causing the people that only hopped to BWR cause it was a new server, to hop to even newer green grass. It seemed impossible to keep any sort of end content guilds together in all the chaos.
The people that stuck around were frustrated and the people that moved on to more populated servers would come back to the BWR forums to insult those of us that stayed.
I donât entirely know how Horde side seemed to avoid much of this problem, especially since they had an even smaller population. But for me, I had a lot more fun once I switched sides.

I was actually thinking about him after I made my last post. I think I vaguely remember something with him and PoP, but I donât know what it was. He transferred a character from another server that had already done the rep grind for the Scarab Lord title, but otherwise, hadnât done the raid level quests yet. I was one of the people that helped him do it with my draenei shaman Rainna over a month or so that it took him. I remember he told me once that people that play Horde are fundamentally bad people in real life. I thought, âWow, thatâs a little extreme,â but otherwise, thought he was ok.
One enemy he made was with Genesis, a guild he was an officer in. Genesis was the guild that Madlibs ran. I didnât have much of a problem with Madlibs, though other people didnât like him. Someone reported his name as not being âRP enough,â and he got contacted about it by a GM while they were in a raid, which, understandably, pissed him off. Unfortunately for him, he made a post saying âF you and your RP ****,â which understandable angered a lot of role players. I didnât know he was getting harassed by people before that, but yeah, things got way worse for him after that. People posted crap about him on the forums under fake alts.
It was bad enough that Madlibs decided to move the entire guild to another server. I remember someone posted about how Alliance side raiding would now come to an end because Genesis was leaving. I found it pretty irritating considering Sigil had a better raiding track record for server firsts. In a, not so great moment on my part, I made a post defending Sigil, a guild I was the guild leader of, noting that Genesis only had one server first and how Sigil pretty much ruled TBC. I think they got Illhoof and Guardians of Innocence barely beat Genesis to Nightbane. It wasnât my intention to slam Genesis, I was just mad people were acting like the sky was falling because they were leaving. But some pretty cool people saw me as talking smack about their guild and were justifiably mad at me over it.
Oh, I googled it cause I forgot. Ozka was the characterâs name. Oh, and that reminded me. Madlibs told me, as one last screw you to BWR before they transferred off, they were going to have Ozka bang the gong at 3am so everyone will miss it. Ozka decided not to transfer with Genesis and instead announced the day and time, with a few days advanced notice, on the forums when heâd bang the gong. I remember us all gathering in Silithus for it.
I thought it was a cool moment, and Iâm glad Ozka stuck to his word so we could all witness it.

Been playing on Mankrik in TBC classic. Phase 3 hit, and the next day, during our regular raid, we one shotted all the bosses in Hyjal (Archimonde took us 2 attempts cause we didnât get the pull right the first time), then one shotted the first half of Black Temple â and not even with a full raid.
Actually, GDKP Pugs are clearing Black Temple in the first week it was released. I have a few level 70s that I PUG Hyjal with on off nights, and again, Phase 3 has only been out two weeks now.
Us old school players are like, âWTH is this game?â But man, knowing the fight mechanics ahead of time makes this so easy. I mean, in the BWR days, Phase 3 was out before anyone downed Magtheridonâafter heâd been nerfed to hell. Thatâs embarrassing.
