Old Graphics > New Graphics

Just an example, I can pull up more if you would like.

You can feel free to dislike the newer graphics all you like. It’s still the same art style.

Goofy, silly stuff has been part of the game since it was an RTS, so even that screenshot isn’t somehow proving a point that there has been a massive shift in tone. Even in the older look, you were dancing like MC Hammer, with a more serious looking face.

I don’t really need them, I think we’ve all seen enough of both graphics to understand our own opinions here. We’re not really going to get anywhere. I just that was a particularly comical example to use lol.

Any example I pull up with BfA graphics is going to be a comical example to use.

here’s the facts we know, last time they reported numbers was WOD at over 10 million at start.
We know AS FACT they said LEGION did better over the course of the entire expansion then WOD, my guess numbers were basically equal but slightly up.
WE know BFA started out as strong as Legion, but yeha we don;t have numbers of what it currently is, but History says Expansion release will always be the highest, patch dates the next, and drop offs in between.

wow is still the Number 1 MMORPG, Number two is FF14 and it only has 1 million.

I don’t recommend getting into number debates. We don’t know them, and honestly, who cares? Was everyone expecting WoW to just continually climb into the stratosphere for 15+ years? “Well if they designed the game the way I like it it would have!” Just ignore those arguments lol.

Your right we don;t have the raw numbers, but blizzard can;t lie to us and investors about the status of the game and the Legion was stated as fact better then WOD in every way and BFA is on track with Legion for it’s release.

but i don’t care i been subbed since 2004 and don’t plan to stop as it’s a great game still!

Guys don’t miss the point of discussion. Look this light, this shadow, these expressions it’s a different art style:

And then dropped by 25% in the following 2 months and just continued dropping which is why they stopped reporting.

Wod could have dropped to 1 mil for all we know so this means literally nothing

And the bar for ‘highest pop’ is continuously getting lower and lower.

And it use to be one of the top played games period and now look where it is… resorting to bringing back an actual decent version of the game.

I agree, but trust me people are cynical enough to reach for points to argue this, whether that makes sense or not.

Your video only proves it’s the same art-style imo. it;s just better models now and new lights.

You just have a simple mind and can’t see the difference but ok we will go with that

no it’s just obviously we have a different definition of what art-style means.

but sure lets go with you have a simple mind! argument back onto you

You know what my favorite part of this useless conversation is? No matter what anyone says here it doesn’t matter because classic WoW has confirmed to have old models and the new will not be in there at all. I love it so much.

I give up this.

It’s like try explain the difference of songs. Some people don’t have the awareness needed.

Those colors aren’t darker, they’re less saturated, and the fog of war is occurring much sooner in the Vanilla version to help deal with graphical load. I’m not seeing a severe difference in style here. Now if you went to actual Legion/BfA zones then ya there’d be new style. New artists, new style, it makes sense. I just don’t think it follows to show the same areas as an indication of a new style. (I’ve only been partially invested in that part of the conversastion).

Look at the first picture in this video, you really honestly think that those two pictures don’t look like different art styles?

It’s a higher res skin on the exact same model, and follows all the same lines and shapes as the original. Except for giving the kobold a longer thinner snout. If anything that reskin just makes the Kobold look creepier/less cartoony than the original. Like a naked mole rat with humanoid features and a beard…

Any difference in style is marginal in that example. I can see the differences in the art, but I don’t see any significant difference in style.

Edit: and to emphasize, I think examples of new styles exist… I just don’t see them in the given examples. The face of the orc maybe, but I don’t consider one example of an orc face option to be a great indicator of an overall change in style. Several of the Orc faces looked pretty comical to me back in the day.

In both cases, they are maintaining the iconic look of Warcraft. You don’t seem to like how it evolved, and that’s perfectly fine.

Personally, I like both versions and would be happy with either one.

One looks like you could stick it into diablo 2 and it would fit, the other looks like it is straight out of fortnite.

If you honestly just think those are higher res then IDK what to tell you, it’s better you just didn’t discuss art styles imo.
