Super weird that there’s a pushback by people not caring about it that would rather they develop other stuff.
Or, it will make the game better for some people and have zero impact on you because you can just ignore it.
I do understand the opportunity cost though. Its just that everything is money, and if housing pays for itself by “extracting money from the players” then there’s no reason it would take anything away from your preferred content.
Anyway, I feel like we’ve already said all this multiple times.
Except the content that would never see the light of day because so much went into housing.
microsoft flight simulator added a boeing 777! when do we get that in wow???
I don’t understand player housing in a game. Is it just something you decorate and go ohh look I have a house… I guess I don’t see the appeal of player housing. Maybe people who like it can help me understand the appeal.
I am NOT saying it shouldn’t be in Wow, just trying to understand the appeal of it. I know that if it were to be put in I could simply ignore it.
sigh
Housing get its own team, Housing increases revenue enough to support said team, Housing doesn’t impact other content.
If housing can just get its own team than I’d still rather they put that brand new team to a different thing.
And anyway that’s probably not how it work. Housing would likely require a whole system change that would stop or at the very least slow down development for everything else.
Will the different thing increase revenue enough to support its team? If yes, then I agree do that thing, and also do housing with its own team too.
what content is that? what percentage of dev’s is needed to add a feature like housing? is it mostly artists, or mostly coders? what did dragon riding take away from us because they wasted time on that? what would have been made if they didn’t do warbands?
how many more dungeons could there be if they didn’t have to make so many new zones each xpac? how many raid tiers if they didn’t have to balance M+? what kind of pvp content was left out because they had to do pve content, or vice-versa?
what kind of stuff was thrown out to put more toys and mounts no one uses in the game? what about the trading post and the store? what did we miss out on with those additions?
New races? pfft, questing? waste.
basically, shaddap.
where would our houses be
No, that’s a total unknown. Can’t use an unknown to justify making it. If it flops, it’s a straight loss for me, and for you.
I don’t know why they didn’t expand up the garrison and make it so much better
relevant for each new expansion
Garrison were more mobile-game than housing.
points to every other profitable MMO that does in-depth successful housing while still producing other content
This conversation has already happened multiple times in this thread.
You greatly underestimate what system change would be required to make housing work. They said it would be spread across many expansions.
WoW is the most popular of them all, for 2 decades, without it.
That means it wouldn’t be more popular with it?
i’m underestimating an instanced plot of land with placeables and collectables that drop in the world? no, i don’t think i am.
Is there a single instance in the game currently that lets you drop something and pick back up?
the garrison… several quests, the marker system, i mean, seriously…
Yestersay I was doing world quests in Valshara and I had to drop boulders on ley-worm holes. I picked up boulders and dropped them. I missed with one so I picked it back up and dropped it again.
