Good morning Blizzard. This is just a reminder that it’s been two weeks and Soar’s speed is still nerfed. When are we gonna get on that?
They probable won’t if they’ve decided to nerf it.
what will the community do if they dont revert this nerf?
They need to just nerf all classes to max speed of RP walk. Remove mounts all together. Remove loot while they’re at it because it’s not fair I run a full raid and get nothing while others get 2-3 pieces. Also, remove the AH! It’s completely unfair some people get to sell BOP epic items and make enough gold for free subs but BOEs never drop for me.
Last Alpha build is incoming and Soar nerf hasnt been fixed nor have they said a word on the backlash. Blizzard sure is listening and communicating this time!
This is the real issue. It’s not about Soar. It’s about the level of disconnect you’d have to have from the game to nerf ANYTHING–especially something people were having fun with–because of pet battles and farming old raids.
Because Ion Hazzikostas fancies himself a philospher.
Without a philosophical gaming principle for reverting the nerf he won’t do it.
Had he been born before Newton’s Law of Gravitation were discovered, he would deny gravity and try to hop between buildings like Neo in The Matrix.
The goal of a game is to have fun. Therefore, games should be fun. Therefore, things that are fun in a game should not be nerfed, unless that nerf will result in more fun being had in the game as a whole.
There’s your philosophical principle. Nail it to the wall above every toilet in every bathroom at Blizzard.
But what is fun?
Blizzard, don’t hurt me…
No. Nope. Nuh-uh.
At this point Im thinking “fun” is the name of the person who killed Ions parents and were witnesses to his weird version of Batman
Fun is easily determined by tracking how much time players spend engaged with a particular activity. According to Ion. While simultaneously designing the game in such a way that players are coerced to do activities they do not enjoy in order to be viable for content they do enjoy.
Hazzikostas says it’s continued repetition of an activity when it no longer gives you tangible rewards.
So when players press nerfed Soar more often than un-nerfed Soar, mostly because it takes them longer to get anywhere. For him that’s evidence they prefer nerfed Soar LOL.

It’s not about soar. This is the correct take. It’d about sticking to something despite (or perhaps in spite of) overwhelming feedback. There’s a sense that the product manager wants to punish players for enjoying themselves. That’s the whole thing behind the “fun detected” thing.
I keep getting yelled at when I say that the Soar nerf killed my excitement for Dragonflight because “its a tiny nerf” or “Soar was OP Blizzard said so” but the problem I have is that this was a dumb change that they gave a bull reason for and have refused to revert or even communicate on.
This attitude, this disconnect from the how the game actually plays, is the exact same design philosophy that ruined Shadowlands. Its just 1 little change but its indicative that on the whole we can look forward to yet another expansion designed by people who dont play the game with the sole purpose of forcing us into content we dont enjoy in order to milk our sub time.

This is the logic by which Satan separated himself from the Divine and Evil entered into the world.

Yep. The substance of the nerf is immaterial. It’s the old “Fun Detected!”-esque mentality that the nerf reveals is still entrenched over at Blizzard.
I’ve mentioned this a couple of times in other threads, but I’ll state it again here.
I believe Blizzard should:
- Remove the cooldown on Soar
- Undo the nerf
- Allow all Dragonriding benefits to likewise benefit the Soar racial.
Gameplay First.
Un-Nerf Soar and add a loud af breaking sound barrier sound when you hit max speed and if you land at max speed you crash into the ground like a meteor.
This is, without a doubt, the single best piece of feedback yet given for Dragonflight.
