Just checked now. Someone I played against in arena 2 years ago (I remember cause of the name) still has a name referencing an adult site (not the content creator/donation site).
Comical how they haven’t been forced to get a name change.
In all my years playing I’ve only ever reported two people for names. One of which was long ago enough that an actual GM appeared to help me (gasp!).
I’ve been reporting more names lately. Particularly over in Classic on the RP servers.
It does. I knew someone who had multiple pastry names (cobbler, cupcake, pies, pastry, etc). They used that name and they did get a forced name change within like a month.
That’s life.
Easy solution is to report the name then report for spam. Reporting spam will remove their previous messages from your chat window and you won’t see new ones from them for a while.
Some of those pastry-related name changes may have been because there are ingame items with those words in their name. The latter one – Blizzard can be a little behind on slang, but they eventually catch up.
It’s such a lack of creativity that people would name themselves something like that. It’s supposed to be funny I guess. Not my cup of tea
Well when it comes to the internet where this magical land of Fiction is predominant, The majority of people truly do not care and just play the game like normal people do.
I saw a funny Pandaren name the other day that was stereotypically Racially ethnic and I chuckled and moved on.

That path leads to a new report - and they are not as nice about it the second time. They will also suspend the person for it. Blizz will eventually force a name of Blizzard’s choice if it goes far enough. Prob random name generator.

Isn’t it ironic (don’t ya think) that we are talking about problems with in game names while we kill ourselves and NPCs for gold/reputation/glory.
Anyone who plays this violent game and complains about a name should not be playing a war game.
If you are triggered by a combination of vowels and consonants but are OK murdering gentle NPCs then you have bigger issues.

Evokers won’t have access to Order halls or artifact weapons either so I have no idea what’s going to happen when an Evoker player tries to access Legion. Khadgar will warp to them and go “hey champion, go to your order h…wait…wtf are you?”

I agree with you 100%. There is a guy on my server that has a severely obscene name that has been reported time and time again to no avail.
Meanwhile Blizzard removed paintings, emotes, and drew up a goofy social contract.
Perhaps they could just actually do their job!
I highly doubt they are reporting names to HR. Usually HR reports are pretty serious.
Out of sheer curiosity, how many times have you been “reported” to HR?
