While I agree there needs to be limits set on truely vulgar names, there also needs to be limits set on how serious we take the people who make it their job to find reasons to be offended.
The pain olympics of pearl clutching, seeing who can truely squeeze them the tightest has become soooooo very old.

I can’t believe the OP was flagged.
Where the hell have we come to in the forums where a very well known troll is “flag-protected” due to the nature of their trolling, and legitimate posts like this are allowed to be flagged.
Stay classy mods!

well, one day you’ll grow up and understand that domestic violence isn’t a joke, and is something to care about and not mock.
stuff like this reminds me of why my group has a 21 and over policy for recruiting, and won’t even consider people with edgy, racist, sexist or just straight up nasty names.

Where have you been for the last two years?
it’s possible
if I could redesign the system - when a name is flagged ( by whatever method) for a force rename due to it violating the ToS - flag every matching player name in the system for a rename as well.

Hoping that GD’s didn’t descend into the absolute cesspool of incels, trolls, and window lickers it is now.
Us normal people are a dying breed.
You! Back in the mailbox!

I mean they can do that, renaming to the same, but Blizz monitors it, do it a couple times they will keep force renaming and after a couple goes will chose a name for you. Keep doing it, you can get suspensions and account closures.
The big issue is alot of the time names that are reported and sanctioned, never get changed because the person just never logs into the toon again. So it can look like nothing is being done, but it is.
Just take a look at the CS forums, theres plenty of post threads weekly complaining about forced renames and time outs for name issues.

I don’t think this thread is legitimate tbh. It reeks of trolling to begin with, but I’ll take it at face value.
My advice is to not let text in a video game effect your mental state, you cannot expect random people on the internet to know what past trauma from your life is gonna “trigger” you. To then punish the other person because you are unable to move past a life altering event or to realize they have no idea who you are what your “story” is just absolutely bonkers to me. To each their own and I hope you all have a good one!

RIP my legion Monk Pootietange
RIP my priest Noobies (Still don’t know why I cant use this name )
I realize we’re in the post-truth world now, but words have meaning. They’re symbols. And the things they symbolize have impact when we are exposed to them.
This is why it’s illegal to say certain words out of context in public, for instance.
Making this statement is a claim that it doesn’t matter what anyone says - it’s always the listener’s fault for taking offense.
While I realize that there is a certain degree of aggressive offense-taking in the world, can we agree that there are lines that should not be crossed?
Are you suggesting that ANYTHING GOES in a game that is rated for 13+?
If not, then this is simply an argument about where the line is. If so, something in you is just missing.

Bah who needs to be able to read and write when we have emoji’s! It all came full circle and modern written language is becoming just like Hieroglyphics. Only with poop and smiles instead of guys with dog and gator heads.

I’ve seen a player named “Azncreampies” multiple times. No special characters, that just somehow made it through the name filter. Like seriously blizz, how does “creampies” not trigger the bad word filter?
I don’t know why the OP was flagged? Bad names are a problem, but the real creepy stuff is in the Guild Ranks you can see if your tooltip is configured to show them.

That’s… actually an impressive level of failure.
Even if Wolfess is correct in re: cadence of account action. The fact that someone could basically just flip off the system multiple times before anything happened of consequence is
I guess we all chose our hills to die on. Baffling.
As someone who use to see what i could get away with when creating new character names, I’ve had to change a lot of my characters’ name. Maybe there is a number of reports that have to be made for the name to be flagged?
On a side note, why is everyone so report happy now a days? They want to report posts, names, and what not. One of the tenants I live by is I will never report anything unless someone is threatening real life violence.

It takes a few reports for them to get flagged for moderation. But I’ve seen people here get their names changed plenty. Like ‘Yipper’ and other Vulperas.
I don’t really see it as being a nosey Karen getting into other people’s business to be honest.
It’s not like their character gets deleted or anything. They get to have a free name change! And I’ve read they can simply input the exact same name as before if they really want to keep it.
