Oceanic Realms Broken - Merged with US Battlegroup (Lag)

Because its extremely unlikely any Oceanic player would have signed up for Classic if they hadn’t created Oceanic servers. I can clearly remember reading the posts about it from Oceanic players anxious to know if there would be Oceanic servers and they eventually announced there would be. It was obviously a monetary decision to avoid having a large slice of players from here not sign on for the game. And it was hardly the first change they made from the old #nochanges standpoint.

I’m not sure how they could have tested it, since trialling a separate Oceanic pvp situation could have resulted in a disadvantage over time.

However, if spell batching and other considerations make it more difficult for players in this new method then that is certainly a consideration.

You can’t in anyway believe that forcing us to play on 200ms+ ping will make our experience better, 20-30 minute queues for PVP wasn’t ideal but at least it was playable

I don’t think this breaks PvP like some in this thread but if given the choice I would prefer our own BG like we have had the entire classic WoW. This felt great to PvP with and found myself coming back just to do some BG weekends. Please revert this change.

Handicapping oce players in pvp vs us players via ping. May as well add the longer spell batching back in but just for oce… GJ Blizz.

Exactly, it’s about the journey, not the reward.

Why would anyone want to have to endure a measurably worse experience?

Blizzard has a chance to make TBC Classic something REALLY special for Oceanic players, and they are absolutely squandering it.

Blizz THE ONLY reason I don’t play FFXIV right now is because they don’t have OCE servers. I really was looking forward to some pvp in TBC arena. Guess not with 250 ping from the SE coast of AU.

WHAT ARE YOU THINKING

The game played so much smoother with the spell batching change but now we’re back to clunky mechanics and high ping.
Get it together blizzard, your decision making is an embarrassment

Not trolling, genuinely think this was a positive change and think that it will be nice to have shorter queue times (especially rn when we are farming tokens anyways) and if changed back then people are going to hate having insanely long queue times for arena and bgs in off-peak times

I was so keen to play PvP in TBC.

Now I’m extremely saddened and disappointed.

The PvP in classic was a grind, sure, but it was also incredible and insanely fun. Low ping, queueing into enemy teams that you recognise, and being able to choose between being honourable or not on your own team, made it rewarding past just the gear.

Queuing into or with some of the top teams during ranking (Geospark, Ullic, Corpsemilk or alliance He, Pounced, Shifthappenz etc) or the huge politics surrounding the system just made it more of a community based thing which is what retail lacks (among a huge amount of other things).

Smaller pings meant that skill was much more of a factor over lag, and 300 ping in absolutely unacceptable for PvP, especially arena. A broken product is also cause for people to ask for refunds but that’s another story.

This is an immense blindsight on your Oceanic player base. Who has time and time again shown how loyal they are and how passionate they are ( remember when you removed layers and the queues were more than 5000 people long?).

I was extremely excited for pvp in TBC. As were a lot of people I know.

Matching us against American players on American servers won’t fix the problem. It will remain the same because Oceanic PvP players will either completely unsubscribe, or just won’t PvP anyway, resulting in the exact same problem your poor US horde players have.

You added in pay for convenience, you added in mounts that didn’t even exist, charge rediculous amounts to allow us to play our characters other than just on TBC and now you completely ruin Oceanic PvP.

What the hell is your problem? Honestly? The player base deserves to know.

It’s 2021. You don’t play games with 300 ping. Stop being the joke of the gaming world. Seriously.

How about they just let all the bloody OCE servers queue against each other. Plenty of people to fill queues across our 4 servers.

Exactly. The outcry would be monumental. As we are seeing now in this thread, when they pull the rug out after getting their cash from boosts and deluxe editions for a loved expansion where a key selling point is instanced arena.
Point is the ‘same as BC’ point holds no water at all, the change is ridiculous. I really expect (hope) they’ll walk this one back soon.

This is unfair, if it’s not reverted before launch then the games not worth paying for.

I don’t care about pushing for high ranking it’s about the enjoyable gameplay. How could they think that in ‘21 we would be content to play a game with archaic latency? Naive and arrogant on their behalf

I will not be playing tbc if this doesnt change, or any version of wow.

I’m guessing that there’s some cost incentive associated with this change, and they’ve given us a different excuse to hide it. Ohh it’s to help us OCE players? OH THANK YOU BLIZZARD YOU ARE SO KIND xoxo

I’ve sent my refund for my boosted character. Only wanted to play TBC for PVP. Thanks bliz

This is a ridiculous move on Blizzard’s part. I do mean that in the literal, as in this is worthy of ridicule. Why would you make this change? I would rather 2 hour queues than high ping for pvp.

People are saying “oh yeah we’ll have to play with 200-250 ping again.”. Try not being in NSW or VIC and getting those speeds, i used to average 350-400 back in the day and i am not going back to that for pvp.

CHANGE IT BACK.

This is not great for anyone, please reverse. How would you like to play the game with 300 ping?

This literally defeats the purpose of regional servers

Please revert this change. This isn’t going to create a better play experience for Oceanic players. No one wants to play competitively with >200 ping.

Put us in our own battlegroup if you are so concerned about Oceanic players earning rewards.
