Honestly? Having soloed it at least that many times?
“Probably more fun with a group but yes.”

Why do people even say stuff like this? There is pretty much zero truth to it. I was never “eaten alive” by undead as a human warlock and in fact perception gave me the upper hand on rogues and druids many times.
WotF is an annoyance to be sure but rarely a big enough problem to cause that much stress. There are a million other annoyances no matter which race/class you choose. None of them really bad enough to completely make anyone useless if you know what you are doing and playing your class to its strengths.
OP if you 100% only want to DPS and think you are going to be interested in end game raiding I would recommend you pick a pure DPS class. Mage, Warlock, Hunter, Rogue.
Any other class you may end up in some utility tank/healing roll that you might not be interested in.
Of course that all changes if you are going to be the GM, raid leader, or are only playing with friends. There may be some wiggle room in that case but if you are with people who need a tank/healer because one isn’t available and you are playing a class where that is an option they will look to you.
If you want to raid with one of those utility/tank/heal classes as dps it isn’t impossible if you are A. really good or B. everyone loves what an awesome person you are and wants you to be happy but no guarantees.
Now if all you are interested in is PvP just choose whatever you want. There is almost always a way to make it work.
I’ve done it all. PvP, PvE, DPS, heal, a bit of tanking (in dungeons not raids) I think they are all fun. Healing and tanking maybe even a bit more fun than DPS. But that is all subjective.
All valid points. Definitely a lot to consider. I guess I could always level a different class first and just feed my paladin gear. Then at max I could bring him to already farmed content. And still enjoy pvp
Look I’m not talking about your ability to kill some afk guy. Or kill some keyboard turner ok?
I’m talking about your ability to win against semi competent players. Its the same argument people use to support not going engi while wanting to PvP. Yes you can still beat bad players as a skilled player regardless. However against people that actually know how to play the little things add up pretty fast.
Also while for lock it is a “slightly” less important disadvantage, against alliance priests WotF is a death sentence.
Not really. I mean dwarf has fear Ward…
Unless you’re in the 1% of the 1% of progression, as Bernie Sanders puts it, you’re not going to have anything to worry about.
Play what you want. Don’t roll a character just because you think it will get into raids, if you hate it.
The point of the game is entertainment. If you are not having fun, why do it?
Warlock will be my choice.

I was torn. Then I picked up Tailoring.
Pick one and roll with it. The grass is always greener on the other side in classic.
Then you’ll roll another class and grass will look green on other side again.

I mean…I PvP’d as a night elf priest in vanilla too. I did fine. Have you considered that you just aren’t very good at warlock and priest? I never felt the need to take engineering to get by either. Though I do not doubt it can be helpful in giving you an edge. I don’t remember going up against that many engineers and losing to them to the point where I felt I had to drop my profession and pick up engineering.
Maybe I’ll try engineering on classic though.
Well played!
Now enjoy your Blessing of Salv/Light/Wis/Might/Sanc because the class lead felt like being a troll.
What I am going to do is switch to Prot when my cousin has Blizzard on his mage.
Prot Paladin / Mage aoe grind is going to be really really good I think. And I am a 15 year Paladin players so I think we will be really fast getting to 60. We work and have lives otherwise we would be competitive in the race to 60.
Everyone knows which mage was being a jerk.
Just look for the one with might.
Prot Pally with consecration and a Mage is going to be really good.
This was the great thing about being the guild leader as a warlock in Vanilla. Everyone was expected to make it to the raid of their own volition if they wanted a raid spot. No summons. I also made everyone run back themselves after a wipe rather than wait for a rez from a healer.
Anyone who didn’t like it was free to find another guild.
You shouldn’t be torn. Or asking other players input. Play what you want to play and make it work . That simple. If 100 people suggested one class and you ended up hating it after all that work you put into it will be more frustrating then playing a class you enjoy playing. Trust me. Ret’s are fine. Any guild can take 1 ret and it won’t hinder the guild to the point where bosses don’t die. If someone honestly believes that there clueless. As someone who raided in a top guild in classic we had 2 rets a feral druid and 1 spriest. Making it all 4 horseman. And this was all before all the information that’s out there today. You’ll be fine. Goodluck
This guy gets it!
