Now I'm torn

BFA warrior is NOTHING like vanilla warrior. It’s disgusting what they did to that class.

If that’s all you think about Druid, then you aren’t thinking about Druid enough.

Imagine roots and travel form, and their usefulness in PVP. Enough? Well, what about more?

Imagine that as a Night Elf Druid, you have 2 stealth skills. One requires cat form, but the other does not. Now, imagine your enemy getting rooted and moonfired, before he even notices you. That’s Shadowmeld.

Now, once battlegrounds come, imagine standing right in the middle of flag room, being in stealth, and having every enemy on map. That’s track humanoids.

The peak of Druid’s mastery lies in 30-39 WSG, when you have travel form before anyone can have a mount. Plus, you can carry the flag in travel form.

vanilla is not like retail, there will be plenty of crappy guilds that cant even get 40 ppl they will be glad to take anyone they can get.

Also your requirements are mutually exclusive “I want to play an unplayed class” " I dont want to heal" Healers=unplayed class

Another good choice. Like I said, my warrior will want all the healbots I can find.

Here’s the deal I’m would consider healing BUT I’ve never done it before and I know I will enjoy ret. So I would want to ret. If I decided I’d like to try my hand at healing I know I’d find a group. But the issue is I don’t want to invest a ton of time into a class then be told I can’t play ret, and end up trying healing for the first time ever only to realize I hate it… You see ?..

Still no

Pretty sure you have to already like healing to like healing as a pally. You’ve got strong but slow heals on people with tiny health pools. It’s all about timing, risk management, and effective use of cooldowns.

Right and that’s why I’m hesitant to make a decision based off healing since I’ve had zero experience healing ever in wow lol. I’ve tanked and dps

Do what I did to get into healing. Jump in head first and damn the consequences.

If you want to stay with what you know then warrior is your only vanilla “option” as they were the only end game tank but could also top dps charts. In vanilla, anything with a heal button was required to healbot or get benched in favor of someone who could dps better.

ret isnt even that much better for offensive pvp than holy. You mostly miss out on your 31 point stun. Just go holy/ret hybrid, put on a healing set for raids and a “ret set” for pvp. Paladins are one of the most flexible hybrids when it comes to acceptable specs for raiding and pvp.

Lmao. I feel like that may be the wrong course of action lol. Grind to 60 then get preraid gear. Only to find out I don’t like healing :sob::sob:

Who says you have to start at 60? I started as soon as I was able to run dungeons. You should have a better idea on what you like when you hit 60.

If you have to play with the group in blue then Warlock. Human so you are easier to find. I would say Druid but healing will come back into discussion.

A more recent poll showed far fewer rogues than expected but on PvP they will be out in force. Far fewer on PvE servers I bet though. Especially alliance. https://i.redd.it/inis00ztt2o21.png

Ret; raid as ret, PvP as ret, RP as ret…

The game will not be the same as it was back in 2004. I will literally raid as a melee hunter sacrificing my own DPS to improve raid damage. This never would have happened in Vanilla. Play what you want, dont let anyone especially people on the forums tell you what is the best to play.

Sorry bub but the mindless followers of Streamers carrying them doesn’t prove anything. It just shows they are hand fed drops to “sorta” do ok.

Hey OP. Here’s an idea.

Just play your paladin and spec him to YOUR playstyle. Get some practice in. Figure out how it and you play.

I guarantee you’ll be better off just doing what makes you happy than trying and failing to min-max because someone else’s build won’t work for you.

If you have loads of fun leveling to 60, then find out end game isn’t for you… so what? You had loads of fun leveling to 60. That is, after all, most of what vanilla’s all about.

And now you can level another character to 60 and have loads of fun with that.

Honestly, healing isn’t the horrendous task people make it out to be (ask Frost Mages about their ‘rotation’ in Classic!). As a Paladin, particularly if you want to be a good one, there is more to do than just spam Flash of Light.

As for the people telling you to just play Ret and there are plenty of non-hardcore guilds that will welcome you with open arms, I’d advise you to be very wary. Ret Paladin’s poor DPS is more harmful in a casual guild/raid than it is in one that is hardcore (fewer people able to make up for Ret’s poor DPS). You will be in direct competition with other classes (all of whom do far more damage than you) for gear, so you might find yourself on the bottom of the priority list. Personally, I think Ret won’t be much more accepted today than it was in Vanilla, but even if it is, I still wouldn’t expect more than 1 Ret Paladin per raid (and that might be Nightfall duty).

Spelladin has been tossed around as well, and gearing wise it seems to have a lot less competition than rolling for gear that is ideal for Ret. The damage still seems sub-par, and I wouldn’t expect people to willingly accept them any more than a token Ret Paladin.

At the end of the day, play what you like as long as you do so with your eyes wide open. If you want to play a Paladin and not be a healer, go for it! Just know that you will have to work harder to prove you deserve your spot, and your DPS/tanking will never be as good as other classes.

Funny thing, is that I keep hearing the endgame isn’t really that important to Vanilla at all and it’s all about the journey and not the destination.

There wouldn’t happen to be anything to that, would there?

Just ask yourself if running molten core for the 50th time is engaging and interesting.
