You are seriously comparing a real life item with pixels? Lol. Bad start. As for in-game rewards, i do agree that some stuff staying exclusive should be so, but it’s not the case for rewards that were not that hard to obtain to begin, and at worst it was just RNG. Tyrael’s charge is a prime example of that. Or the old Zul’gurub mounts. They were soloable in wotlk… you just needed to be lucky to get them to drop before Cata launched. The TCG mounts i’d argue its a similar position, if because it was just buying booster packs and get lucky.
Hell, I wouldn’t mind if they were to do an experiment similar to fated raids with older expansion ones and bring back some AoTC mounts that way. I have all of them and i wouldn’t mind.
I’m more of the type that wouldn’t mind some exclusive titles to stay unobtainable, but as far as cosmetic stuff i’d say its silly to gatekeep it. It makes sense if it was gladiator pvp rewards or something that was legitimately hard and didn’t involve much luck if at all. Those took a lot of skill and effort. As for AoTC stuff, coming from someone who owns all of the mounts from those: come on guys, it was never that hard to obtain to begin. And carries went for as low as 40k gold in some cases.
While vanity items are nice, pretty sure none of the fomo items put in the trader’s post took any skill to get. Tyrael’s charger was just a 6 month sub reward, Cindermane was recruit a friend, and SoC you got just by logging in. It would be another thing if they put the MoP challenge mode rewards, Plagued Proto Drake, or Black Qiraji tank in there. You are basically getting mad because other people are getting your vanity participation trophies
Of course they dont. Nothing needs to happen in WoW. But while were on this subject it must be said, all reasons for stopping them from coming back are illogical and based solely in emotion.
Its a classic Boomer “i got mine, you can get lost.”
The only things that should remain exclusive are things you had to actually earn when they were released like CM gear, mage tower stuff, AOTC mounts etc…everything that was just an item you could simply get for doing nothing or just spending money should return.
What if the items were reintroduced and could only be acquired through a challenge that is greater than or equal to the original acquisition’s difficulty?
Read the title. I know where youre coming from. Even though the mists Timewalk passed, the timeless isle never felt complete, if you go to the temple of fire for Ordos. Required the legendary cloaks, and those that got one before WoD, could go in it with an alt the doeant have a cloak.
More over with legendaries. WoD ring quest and getting the legendary follower. Blizzard had 2 thoughts. 1,everyone should try to get the legendaries. 2, we made a mistake so cut the content so no one in the future gets them.
I haven’t seen a single Scarab Lord since DF launched. There was one ally Moonguard Scarab Lord that would sit in Oribos all day and I would give them a /salute when I passed by. Moral of the story? Games dying. DF has been great, but people are playing Classic over it.
It’s in the twilight and the rewards mean nothing compared to the memories we made.
It’s time to accept reality.
I think most rewards shouldn’t have been removed in the first place.
It’s completely fair to bring most of the stuff back into the game, but the way Blizzard does it seems kinda lazy.
Bring back the AH dinosaur! But sell it for 5 mil, like back then, so players can take on the challenge of aquiring the gold.
Bring back old CM sets! But also bring back the CM itself as scaling content.
Bring back Tier 3 sets! But in a difficult Timewalking Naxx raid.
And back then there was no challenge in getting the legendary cloak from Wrathion for example. Just bring back the questline, that’s it.
But just throwing it into BMAH or, even worse, the Trading Post? Nah man.
On the other hand I can understand why all of this won’t happen. They simply don’t have the manpower and ressources to do it.
Which, along black one, were a joke to get and we’re only technically hard because of time constrains and servers working like crap back in 2008, to the point at one period of time before ulduar was released, WG battleground would crash the entire northrend whenever someone won. Oh, and they (naxx drake and old ZG mounts) are at the BMAH anyway. I do agree that skill-based ones like gladiator pvp mounts should remain exclusive with how hard is to attain those to begin, but the examples provided are not really cases where they were hard outside factors like RNG and server collapse lol(except maybe the MoP CM stuff, which did take skill to a degree to obtain).
That’s just not true at all, I was able to get the druid bear skin in two pulls in full catch up gear from the forbidden reach while in legion it took significantly more attempts.
