Nothing should ever be removed from the game apart from maybe titles.
They should just make items/mounts harder to get like they do with raid mounts.
The game is made worse when they remove items.
I did challenge modes in mop and wod. They were not hard and even early on there was very little prestige. By the end of the expan with trinkets and tier you face rolled it. These items should just drop from m+ in 16’s and up or something. That’s probably the key level it would have been equal to.
Let players farm corrupted Ashbringer. Make it a 0.1 drop chance.
The game is made worse for removing items as players who take breaks feel frustrated when they come back but can’t get something as it’s been completely removed.
Part of my fun stems from enjoying the items I earned from the “I was there” moments. That fun is diminished by the entitlement of others who were “not there”. A complete, yet mostly hyperbolic, comparison would be why vets get angry over stolen valor. “You weren’t there, you didn’t do the things I/we did.”
Those who are riddled with envy over things they lost out on should re-evaluate the priorities in their life. If you aren’t envious, then you wouldn’t be arguing against this.
Those memories of getting it at the time will not be taken away.
I’m sorry for you.
Even with this disclaimer please just remove this from the post. Comparing stolen valor to pixels in WOW is beyond absurd.
This and what I said isn’t mutually exclusive
You putting your own thoughts on to me. I’m not envious, you can chose to not believe me, I do not care. You thinking that this subject can’t be discussed with out having such thoughts shows more about you than it does me.
You want “your” “stuff” to lord over other people based not on talent or brains, but having paid for a game at a time when something was made available.
You didn’t earn anything, and you’re pretending you did. There was no Mage Tower in Shadowlands. Why punish someone for being subbed in Shadowlands rather than Legion?
No one’s seriously suggesting everything in the game be tossed in your Collection tab the instant you log in, but instead are voicing frustration at the lack of possibility to earn the items themselves. It’s not a matter of ‘not trying hard enough,’ it’s a matter of the event essentially getting 404’d before they were ready to tackle it, or they did tackle it, relentlessly, but RNG just always screwed them in the end.
Open the pathways and people will walk the paths. But that’s not acceptable to the hoarders; they need to not only have the item, but ensure there are ‘have-nots’ to lord over.
A collector doesn’t care who else has what, as long as their collection is complete. A hoarder not only must have it all, but also must have more than anyone else.
Right cause merely paying for my sub during Pandaria got me Challenge mode gold appearances, got me the uncorrupted voidwing in BFA, got me Mistwalker, etc.
I have not YET heard an actual good argument from the entitlement crew here so I’ll make a plausible one for you, one that even I could get behind.
Earning the items/achievements/mounts/titles/cosmetics on a classic era server of that expansion earns it on retail. Boom. You went through the proverbially trenches with the same talents/systems/gear as people did in the days or yore and you have your stuff to show for it.
Missed out on Immortal? That’s alright, EARN it in wrath classic and unlock it in retail.
What you all have been arguing are just these things to be given to you. Trading post/cash-shop/put back in the game (knowing full well you could clown it with gear vastly outpacing what it took back in the day). Pffft, make me out like I’m the objective face of poor FOMO market practices or gatekeeping. You all can’t even reach what I just posted above as the most logical, and well-compromised solution. Because you want it all for free.
you clearly havent touched classic at all. those things from back in the day are jokes already. immortal was a joke on classic wrath. challenge mode gold will be a joke.
maybe you havent realized this but over 10 years have passed since these items were removed. everyone is vastly better nowadays. immortal has zero prestige whatsoever on classic.
Sure. Okay. Do ILvl locks on raid cheevos. Then reopen the raids. I’m no stranger to level sync and I did already it once. I’ll carry 'em all.
One of the most fun things for me was being a sherpa in Destiny 2 when Leviathan first launched. God I loved not telling the newbies about the final gauntlet run.
all of these “high status” things that people seem so intent on keeping to themselves are never even shown by these people trying to keep them “exclusive”. This all sounds like soemone went to the trading post and saw “already known” when mousing over the items and suddenly remembering, getting the item 15 years ago from some 1 and done thing they utterly forgot about.
Did you go to “super bowl 1996” exclusively for the ring, or did you actually go for the overall experience and that was just a fun gimmick they threw in? Same with all my airshow hats when i pay extra for the gold pass seats. I wouldnt give a hoot if they re-released them for some bonkers reason. Lets be honest its not like someone getting a “Airshow 2011” hat in 2023 is really, special. Nor does it even put the slightest dent in the value of my original airshow 2011 hat, or the memories and experience of the event that i still possess, and the 2023 person will not.
I’ve got some stuff that’s long since been removed. They could bring it all back tomorrow via Twitch drops and Amazon Prime loot and I wouldn’t care.
They can start with the Brutosaur. My guy needs a friend. I’d love to see a day where fleets of Brutosaurs line the streets of Orgrimmar/Stormwind and some of our other lovely capital cities.
