See a retail+ or retail 2.0 would be neat imo. Use retail as a blueprint on what mot to do, and make new lore possible. But that would need to be on separate servers from Classic, and imho do it 4+ months after phase 6 and let people take those characters to the new servers.
Y’know, funny thing about that is we have loads of living examples of old games that just don’t die. When was the last time they added content to Diablo 2? There’s still a sizable community playing that and it has far less content.
Classic’s population will drop. That much was anticipated a long time ago. But that’s fine. That doesn’t mean it’ll die.
Do you not realize how easy it would be to just add new content without changing the actual game?
Why do you guys think that adding new dungeons or raids means they need to alter how the core game works?
Why would they need to change class development to add a new BG, or a new 5 man dungeon, or new quests, or a new zone? What does any of that have to do with character development?
Why can’t you think beyond what they did with the xpacs?
They did that already, and it lead to something like 80% fewer subscribers.
For two years they added new content without altering the game itself. But you guys ignore that, and only point out what they did much later when they introduced new expansions.
the issue is it’d need to be a separate server from retail, too. I DARE you to try to take dungeon finder away from the current babied player-base of retail. Game would be dead in a week.
Actually that specifically just has to do with how D2 is as a game. It’s designed to be able to be started from scratch every so often and build a character to beat other people up. They sort of do seasons similar to what D3 does.
Idk, so many people hate LFG/LFR. Maybe if they found a compromise it could work. But my worry is further dividing the playerbase. It’s about my only argument by that point.
Of COURSE! Something we can all agree on. Two groups coming together under one banner. #Retail+. Fixing the mistakes blizzard made with teamwork and friendship.
Diablo 2 isn’t an MMO, and doesn’t require a single other person to play it. It existed for years specifically because it didn’t need other players, or run as a subscription service.
Diablo 2 isn’t WoW, and you’re entire comparison boils down to some people being willing to play the exact same content over and over again for drops, and you can’t even do that in WoW. WoW has a content limit.
As much as i compare retail to a dumpster fire, there is a market for the action dungeon finder style game it is. I wouldnt shut it down.
If classic kept its open sandbox with horizontal progression, id be onboard.
Classic needs to stay classic though. An expansion to classic without +10 levels, flying, p2win, etc would be pretty cool as long as they kept the spirit of vanilla.
If anything remotely like that would happen, it has to be done with that.
Transmog or no transmog. How about access to dye equipment? (example)
Without it, you’re doomed to sink the ship before it leaves the harbor.
It’s definitely a division of two types of players from two different generations I feel.
IF there’s ever a chance we could tell who is leading, we would know for sure what voice is more booming.
But I would love to see the cap stay at 60 and they just add more unique content without the need to grind levels, rep or bs resource for days, months on end.
How do you expect classic to survive in two years with nothing new. You need more than a handful of people on each server willing to play a stagnant game.
Why do you guys think that retail exists as effectively a single server today? Because there aren’t enough people across the individual servers for people to play through content. That’s classics future as a “museum piece”.
Same. The nochangers are a vocal minority on the forums giving each other up votes. Where are they in game? No where. All they can do is move goal posts on the forums to justify their conservative viewpoint for a game that doesn’t exist anymore.
There’s even less nochangers on the forums now. Go figure, I guess insulting everyone doesn’t work or they played for a little got their nostalgia and left. Who knows? They do like to think they’re the only ones who asked for Classic or are passionate about it, it’s cute.
