And has been proven over the last decade plus, Vanilla content as presented needs ZERO additions to remain a viable experience. This is already established. None of you have debunked that.
By all means, fill in the blanks. I’m looking at the quote right now in another tab just for kicks. Show me where in there I’m missing “Classic+”. I’ll wait.
in b4 “OMG SEMANTICS”
10,000 players at the peak of a private server is actually proof against your opinion, you need to try again. You seem to enjoy cherry picking quotes that suit you, and attempting to mansplain why the numbers don’t add up to your opinion.
If you’re talking about pservers run out of a basement with volunteer mods with less than 10k acitve players, I think you need to know the difference between paid Blizz employees, staffing, and maintenance of the WoW classic servers. Once the costs of running the Vanilla server becomes higher than the revenue, it will SHUT DOWN. It’s a very simple calculus. Pservers are an apples to oranges comparison that has nothing to do with server hosting, maintenance, and the difference between a fan project vs a corporate endeavor.
Except no, it isn’t. To you that’s failure perhaps, but that’s still $15 a month. No server on this earth costs $150,000 a month to operate.
So you accept that the numbers are objectively a failure in comparison to Blizzard numbers.
I appreciate you admitting this so we can move on to the next point.
If it is wildly successful, and there are huge numbers of people who are in it and are interested, and it becomes this call for the next thing, then I think that could be something that we talk about then. We certainly now have the ability to do it in a way that we never did before. It’s something that now has become possible. Whether or not we will do it, I think will really depend on the fans’ interest and the fans’ reaction.”
Once again, your cherry picking is adorable, but with google only a quick search away I’m afraid people can debunk your tactics quite easily.
Literally said the opposite.
And your self-interested application of context is equally as adorable. Those of us who can read without an agenda don’t share your proclivity.
So when we talk about facts not caring about your emotions, this is what we mean. The quote clearly shows that they will consider Classic+, but you insist that isn’t true. Your emotions and opinion flies against the face of reality.
Do you really have any idea how much electricity, rent, maintenance of the server hardware, maintenance of the realms, employee wages & benefits for those keeping Classic running, GM employees, costs of hiring employees to patch exploits and hacks, really is?
Or maybe you are just pulling the “No server costs 150,000 a month to operate” out of thin air
If you didn’t already know, Pservers are FREE. So the true classic population in years to come might be under 10,000, as people aren’t going to be wasting 15 dollars a month on a game they’re bored with.
You’re right; a corporate endeavor can do it better and probably cheaper while providing a better experience than those basement dwellers could. But that’s irrelevant. It has little to do with calculus.
Brack has already said: as long as there is a WoW, there will be Classic WoW along with it. If all of WoW goes under, then your scenario makes sense. Since that’s unlikely to happen, applying your calculus to the reality of this thing doesn’t make a lot of sense.
salutes!
Blood and Thunder? =P
Facts don’t care about your feelings bud. You were wrong.
You can’t possibly be so obtuse as to not realize that you’re doing this yourselves.
We certainly now have the ability to do it in a way that we never did before. It’s something that now has become possible.
that we never did before.
never did before.
Lack of reading comprehension Derka?
classic is essentially an “expansion” of course you will run out of content
u ran out of content in tbc, wrath, cat, mop, wod, legion and lolbfa
when bfa is over everyone will move on to the next rng slotmachine fest from actiblizz
classic will only last forever for the dedicated few
it was always going to be that way
people act like they are breaking big news
stop being simple
Blizzard doesn’t care if you get bored, this isn’t for people who were only going to be playing temporarily. Go back to OSRS… man what happened to the days when wow players made fun of the RS players for being poor?
Blizzard doesn’t care if people are subbed?
???
???
??
?
UHHHH.
“Blizzard doesnt care if you get bored”… Yeah… Blizzard who wants to make a successful video game and squeeze the 15 dollar a month sub to play it… Yeah they don’t care if you get bored and quit paying the $15 a month. What’s next, McDonalds doesn’t care if you get food?
The objective of this entire thing… the entire point was to make vanilla wow playable again… People resubbing is a huge plus… but it was not their main objective. Maybe it was the main objective for the advertising/marketing department… but the devs do not care.
Yeah, developers spent over two years fixing the code all for the love of you and the community!
That’s a really cute fantasy.
