Man look at this, a player with some common sense. Think I found a rare in the forums.
Not really lmfao. That whole statement is based on the premise that ActiBlizz can actually make GOOD classic content for Classic+, which they clearly canât judging from whatâs been done with retail. If they COULD, they would have done it a LONG time ago. Classic+ would NOT be as profitable vs the expansions due to the VERY SMALL number of players in favor of it. There arenât enough of you to fill even ONE server let alone multiples. Itâs a huge gamble for Blizzard that would require a ton of time/money/man hours/resources to make Classic+ and this is even assuming they could actually deliver on it without making another dumpster fire like Cata/WoD/BFA. Re-releasing the expansions however will cost them almost nothing to port them over and make massive $$$$
You Classic+ people are incredibly naive to think otherwise. Mark Kernâs statement about the âalternate reality of WoW and branching off in a different directionâ was idle theory and speculation. He no longer works for Blizzard, therefore what he says should be taken with a grain of salt. It is NOT Blizzard approval or any indication they will go that route AT ALL
A classic+ expansion would draw players from old and new because it hasnât been seen or done before. Could be a gold mine or a total disaster but fear isnât something that would stop me from trying and based on Blizzardâs stance on Classic+. Donât think theyâre afraid to try either since they considered it.
Blizzard considered it? Really?? How do you know this? I already shot down the Mark Kern statement. Whereâs this blue post that talks about them considering Classic+?
Ion stated it in a q&a
You mean this one?
Where does it mention Classic+???..NOWHERE
QFT
Great another person thats clueless about why people wanted classic.
It is in this article
https://www.google.com/amp/amp.denofgeek.com/us/games/blizzard/281116/world-of-warcraft-classic-preview-impressions
EDIT:
Trying to find the q and a where Ion mentioned the same thing.
âAnything is on the table. This is a love letter to our fans,â Dawson said. âIf the fans have a desire for something, it would absolutely be considered. Weâre certainly not planning to do that today, but if people want more, we can talk about that. Weâll cross that bridge when we get there.â
That statement directly conflicts with Blizzardâs prior statements about Pandoraâs Box and Classic being a museum piece. Unless itâs kept separate, there will be Hell to pay once the Classic community hears about this
Itâs not outside the realm of possibility for Blizz to do something new with WoW. Classic proves there is a demand for that style of MMO.
Small indie companies with not even a quarter of the WoW fan base attempt new MMOâs on the regular. Their downfall is usually the lack of player base, and being relatively unknown. So money and marketing.
Blizz doesnât have to worry about either of those things. It still IS the most well known MMO, hell game of our time⌠currently.
While I donât have good faith theyâd make anything Iâd play, to say they wouldnât as a matter of fact is also incorrect.
Theyâve got the players base, the lore, the manpower, the money. Retail is still going strong(?) but those players arenât very happy with it either.
If there was a time for them to make some changes, the time is now (or following the status of Classic being a success or stagnating). They donât want to lose their cash cow. However, Iâd see this being something retail related and not something theyâd do with Classic(+). Just my thoughts.
I agree with everything you said except for
I donât think this would work for retail since retail players love their QoL features and Classic removes all of that which is why we talk about Classic+.
THANK YOU btw for finally giving me the sources to the claims that the OP and others were making. I asked the OP and one other for a citation multiple times and they failed to respond.
I may not like what I read, but at least I know people arenât talking out of their @ss anymore regarding Blizzardâs stance on it
Very true, Iâm just thinking Blizz would be reluctant to expand Classic because they have been in the past up to this point. I feel like they need Retail to keep succeeding and restarting it is an embarrassment (to them). That being said theyâll do whatever they think is making the most money.
yeah much prefer a wow 2.0
maybe set in the future or just another universe itself. different combination of classes and specs. that way they can play with different ideas and the same ideas. but still keep it true to what makes classic wow good. atleast this way they could impliment some of the QoL changes that wont ruin the game without changing classic
Guy that actually did the work says all the same things the majority of the community is saying. Blizzard themselves even comment that itâs on the table.
Seems like YOU are the one asking for your own personal âCustom Expansionâ, my boy.
Shocktastic at it again.
I got news for you folks. The link to that interview with Patrick Dawson is now no longer relevant. In a more recent interview with Ion Hazzikostas, he specifically states that âThere will be NO NEW CONTENT for Classic.â Meaning NO CLASSIC+ garbage!!! Expansions confirmed
You can try to make me look like an idiot all you want all youâre doing is showing YOUR level of maturity⌠Or rather a lack thereof. Iâm done wasting my time speaking with you. Youâre beneath me
