Well, when you dismiss the xpacs that were around for 6 years that did require doing content to fly, of course there are no examples left lol
And you did need to at least level your character to 90 to get flying in MoP. Paying for flying mounts or unlocking my flying form in BC wasn’t exactly easy either. Wotlk you had to get at least one character to 77.
Is leveling not content?

So you haven’t been playing since the start of these expacs, have you? Yes, you may have 13K achieve points, however, you are being willfully obtuse if you really think people were flying over content at the beginning of the expac- much less 6 months into it.
Lack of flying at the beginning of an expac has been a huge argument for years at this point.

So true. If anything, once I get flying I play and explore more than I do on the ground.
When I’m on the ground, I stealth or run from mobs I don’t wish to fight. If I’m being chased or shadowmeld is down, I don’t stop to inspect anything interesting. When I’m done in an area, I flightwhistle back to a flightpath, hop on, and go do something around the house or come to forums while the computer controls my character.

Flying is great. I’ve already SEEN the content the first time I did it, there’s no need to waste my time seeing it every time I want to do something.

When you said “most new content had to be ran” I assumed you were talking about leveling 
Worded another way my response is: I didn’t have to level in every zone before I could “skip” it with flying.

I’m in both camps Someone had the idea of gold for flying per character and pathfinder for account wide flying. At max level of course.

Does every class have stealth or is that a perk of 2 classes?
Everything in the game is content.
Just like everything in a tv show, book, etc is content.
You mean how EVERY mount can now walk on water when a couple classes had that ability? Seems like our prejudice is selective in here.
Again…this isnt a first person shooter. its an RPG.
Fighting trash isnt content. Its busy work.
edit…and by the way…last I checked we’ve pretty much PLAYED the content by the time we can get flight. So that argument against flight is as lame as it gets

GW2 took some time to add flying. And you cant actually fly. And almost no one complains about that.
But GW2, sorry, has much more content than WoW.
And GW2 has a better crowd in general.
I still play wow just because I like the story, and it has been with me since I was a kid and I am 40 years old.
But it is sad that WoW went the way it went after so long waiting to experience “Warcraft close and personal” from all those RTSs.
I was excited at first, when I learned that engineers would get new water “mounts” to build when BfA was coming out, only to be extremely disappointed at the piece of crap consumables that we actually got. Come on, Blizz! Where’s my damn jetski?!

To be fair GW2 has far more functioning mounts than WOW that makes getting around fun and easy if Blizzard had their way they’d nerf all those mounts into the ground like the waterstrider.
