The logic you’re trying to apply is under the false impression Alliance was entitled to Blood Elves. So your gotcha moment doesn’t work.
Blood Elves were neutral at the start of BC, and Quel’thalas pulled out officially from the Alliance back in WC2, and can someone tell me were they even ever “pro” Alliance? We definitely see Blood Elves and Quel’thalas today pro Horde.
So only one faction (the horde) can lay claim to them as a core race even with this cheap logic attempt at a gotcha moment.
Blood elves aren’t high elves. They were high elves once upon a time. Theres thousands upon thousands of posts on this.
However, blizz opened up the flavor to blood elf players who want to pretend, same as VE. VE though have horrible hair that doesnt work with the theme, thus some players would like some styles/different colors added, and no they dont have to be “blood elf” styles or colors, but honestly hair color is not specific to any race. Humans, gnomes, dwarves, and others have blonde or brown or red hair. Colors like that not specific to a race. BEs dont own brown hair.
Styles are to an extent, but theres nothing that states that VE have to have blood elf styles.
So…
Add some void options to VE. Add some hair colors/styles for HE looks from other alliance races to VE. Give BE what they want (right now all I hear about is how they just didn’t get enough or how they were harmed by VE, but I’m not seeing what players actually want anymore. I see more VE/BE combo players come up with ideas for BE than BE players currently it seems).
If they had spent more time supporting their desires and less time having a fit about HE fans and obsessing over blue eyes and “beating” alliance players then maybe BE would have gotten a solid, dark theme to bring them back to what they were supposed to be. They wouldn’t be sitting on “just jewelry for only females”.
…And alleria had gone through under Locus walker training for who knows how long… and she also absorbed a void naauru, something that not everyone will have access too… and not all leaders look like the people they lead…
Man, I sure love having to repeat this so many times…
I know you’re on a kick right now, but I don’t need to sit and argue about something that has been argued about for years. If you need a refresher, check the old High Elf megathreads.
You once noted the difference yourself. We talked about the potential rivalry between HE and BE and the story it would create if expanded on.
Maybe so, but they had High elves before Horde did. And continue to have had High elves despite Blood elves being High elves. And have High elves now through Void elves.
Maybe you wouldn’t have to if you did anything other than get into dumb arguments on the forums about blood elf hair color like we are now?
There were still High elves in Alliance after WC3.
It’s like you didn’t even pay attention while playing a void elf. lol
Wowhead:
" In fighting the Nether-Prince, the elves undergo a transformation, changing them into the Ren’dorei, or Void Elves. "
Gamepedia:
“They were transformed by void ethereals but rescued by Alleria Windrunner, who had gained mastery of the Void herself on Argus. Permanently transformed by the process, they pledged their loyalty to her and the Alliance and established themselves as the ren’dorei.”
Done! I just don’t want to have to look, as a void elf, like I just climbed out of a swamp with that murky grey-green hair. We’re literally stepping on the Undead’s niche there. I wouldn’t even mind the black or white hair to come with a tinge of void.
This is false, I have never ever not acknowledged the fact Blood Elves are High Elves.
My interest in this subject stemmed from a love of Blood Elves and Void Elves, and feeling sorry for people who wanted the Alliance High Elf; that has now been accomplished via a compromise and I will not pursue advocating for anymore stealing of the Blood Elf theme.
As for this ominous we talked, I have no idea who you are, but it’s no secret I’ve said in the past I would have liked Alliance High Elves to be used in place of Night Elves as far as questing zones like Azshara go. That isn’t “playing into some huge rivalry” I have never wanted High Elves glued to Blood Elves hip. Nor is the NE rivalry when it comes up some huge thing, it’s just a thing that’s happened for zone story telling every once in a rare occasion.
The reason I distanced myself from mentioning that is because it is like an alarm that sounds off to alert every HE fan who does want some huge rivalry and for High Elves to be glued to Blood Elves hip. So I stopped mentioning it because it’s not something I want to feed into or people I wish to entertain.
