I’m in a similar position, the only reason I’m here is classic and I’m not very familiar with the forums. Hopefully hel’’ pop up soon and we’ll have an answer to a least one question. I certainly intend to contact support about this, even though that response they gave you is just… wow. My head is spinning just looking at it.
Exactly. It seems like poor form if that’s the way the handle things.

I am hoping that Shimy, Blizzard, or someone will pop up within the next 24 hours with answers. I am hoping that this was a mistake in some way and the forum is re-instituted. However, if things do not turn around soon, or answers are not given, then another megathread will need to be made and if no one else is willing to start or lead the fight then I will do so myself at that time.
Please let us/me know what they say.

I will of course support the new thread. The problem with this is it is a slippery slope. For those without beta access, this is our ONLY venue for giving feedback. If stuff can just miraculously vanish into thin air, are we wasting our time? Are we even being listened to? Is there even a point? It’s soul destroying. Just how many posts have we made that we think are helping with the development of the game, that have in actual effect vanished without trace? I haven’t checked my entire history, who would, but it makes me wonder what else is missing.

Shimy has been temp banned until June 25 and did not delete the thread. I know him. Someone else can feel free to start a thread! We both signed the petition. Shimy posted on the petition comments mentioning that the thread was deleted.

Was there a notification on why the thread was deleted?

He had no idea it was deleted until he checked the forums. No email and no notification that it was deleted. They erased all evidence of it ever existing.

The timing is very suspicious. “Look! Over here! Stress test!”

Forgive my bitter tone, but I too spent time trying to respond to everyone with respect and carefully considered points. What a waste and disgrace if this was an authoritarian move. Very bad PR if so.

Shimy liked my posts, so he’s here in part at least. We support your thread :D.

Unarmored mounts aren’t going into the game for a few reasons:
-
Because they change the dynamic in a way that isn’t consistent with Vanilla. Everyone knows about the mounts now and that they would be removed (if they went with the remove in Phase 2 idea), and so everyone has to make a choice to either race to 60 or lose out on a limited time reward. This wasn’t a pressure people felt in Vanilla, because the inevitability of their removal wasn’t telegraphed at release.
-
They are essentially unfinished pieces of content that do not fit into the idea of an epic mount. As they are just reskins, one has to know all of the mounts across all of the races to determine if someone is riding an epic mount by looking at them based on the color of the mount. Epic mounts should immediately stand out, which the armored ones do. When you get an armored epic mount, you actually feel a sense of progression instead of getting the same mount you already had in a different color.
-
They are not in the version of Vanilla Classic is based on. There were many other things that were added and removed in Vanilla, such as the Warlock RoD questline, Helmet of Latent Power, Improved Firestone, etc. We’re getting 1.12, which is the version that Blizzard feels is the most “done”. The mounts were removed long before then, so it doesn’t make sense for them to reappear while other additions/subtractions have been made that won’t be undone. That’s just cherry picking an experience for one set of players while leaving out other experiences that other players might have had that they won’t be able to relive.

Crazy how rare those ancient mounts are, 1.12 is considered “old” to those people lol.
there are an estimated 50 to 100 active horn of the red wolf (red orc mount with no armor at all, and uses the old pixel animation, not new animations)
It is incredibly troubling and discouraging. They’ve been getting a lot of praise for how open to discussion and feedback they’ve been during the development and then they do something like this to a completely harmless discussion thread without giving us any reason why.

Do we know this was done purposefully, or is there a chance it could have been a mistake/bug somewhere? I don’t know if reaching out to support about this would actually yield an answer, but that’s one route to take since Blizzard does not seem to want to address this issue in the forum themselves.
Additionally, if we plan to make this the new megathread in the meantime I support that, however, I think we should update the title.

Still no new information on the matter? I’ve been at work but I sent in a ticket to support now.

Triple A company. Old Blizzard would’ve never done this. Too bad it’s just Activision now. They did delete the thread because my posts were about 270 and now they are down to 125.
Trolls came in the thread and didn’t get banned, instead they deleted the whole thread all together. BRAVO BLIZZARD.
Fesz is probably snorting coke with the rest of his troll group and celebrating like they just won the biggest jackpot of their lives. You guys are lame and should get a life.
Blue posts are responding to troll threads like “Add underwater zones” and the community that is actually passionate about the game and got over 1.3k posts in 1 month about a change they do not like got 0 responses from Blizzard and they just outright deleted the whole thread when they had enough of seeing it in the forums.
No wonder you are in decline, Blizzard. No wonder people are not playing your games anymore. Overwatch is in decline, WoW is in decline for a while now. Diablo 3 has only a few passionate people still playing. SC 2 is in decline.
HOTS has been butchered by your own hand. Nobody watches your eSports even with all the goodies you are providing people.
You can’t do anything right. No wonder you are transitioning to the mobile market in China.
Old Blizzard removed the mounts from the game. Their stance is consistent with the decision that Blizzard made back in the day, and they explained their reasoning, some of which I rewrote in my comment above. If Blizzard has good reasons + it’s consistent with Vanilla Blizzard, I don’t see the issue.
You can certainly ask for changes to Classic. I have asked for some changes to Classic that I think would be nice, but I personally disagree using recolors of the non-epic mounts as epic mounts is a good idea for the game.
Blizzard also might have just deleted the thread because it was getting off topic and out of hand, or they felt like the conversation had run its course. There’s only so much that can be said on the topic besides just asking them and looking for support.

You know, I’d understand that if it was common practice and if they let us know when they did it. Just a little note at the end of the thread with a warning that it’ll be removed shortly and a reason why.
Conversation didn’t get off-topic or out of hand in the mounts thread, it was pretty tame aside from the occasional bickering. Meanwhile the AV thread is still going strong, repeating the same discussion points it has for the last several months–as it should be. I’d like to know why our thread was an exception.
As for looking for support and asking them, we now have to do all of that again, and I’m not looking forward to it.

I posted in the thread, and my personal experience was that there were CoC violations, including attacks against individual players that were outside of the topic at hand. I have not seen many threads that weren’t deleted because of violations. Blizzard leaves tons of threads up and even comments to lock them when they start to go off topic.
For instance, there was a 1k post Transmog thread that was locked and Bornakk commented saying it had gone off topic. Obviously both threads are feature requests to Classic you may or may not disagree with, but the Transmog one was just locked.
That said I hope you get a response from Blizzard as I know it can be frustrating not to be able to discuss a topic because of a lack of civility.

Gee, I wonder why.
Internet troll definition:
A person who posts remarks or comments onto internet forums or message boards in an attempt to get someone to comment negatively to it and to redirect attention onto himself.
And you’ve done an amazing job at that as well as Fesz and the other paladin who’s name I forgot.

It is frustrating. Unfortunately we can only be responsible for our own behaviour. If they had said that was the reason I would accept it and people could move on to a new thread with that in mind. As it is we have no idea whether it was that, the petition, or any other element that offended them so much.
