No timers, PERIOD

If the timer is generous enough that it wouldn’t even affect “normal” players, yes. I’m not saying it needs to be M+ 2.0, just something that moves you along so you’re not spending 2 hrs on every floor.

And maybe only put it in one mode where the tower is harder.

I just don’t see why we need to complicate or “fix” this by addding a timer.

If I’m doing a floor and I need to stop for 15 minutes to help my wife/kid with something it would be nice to not be kicked out because of some stupid timer.

Or if my group wants to chat for 10 minutes about…anything… there isn’t a clock racing down reminding everyone we gotta go go to before the magic timer kicks us out.

Somehow the game is shifting to everything needs a countdown timer when it seemed to work just fine for years without one. They were only added in a very specific scenario (45 min strat, ZA bear, etc.) not as the default to new content like we have now with mythic+, islands, visions, and soon Torghast.

Rewards are going to have to be tuned with the knowledge that there is going to be a lot of variance in how far you can progress from run to run just in how the buffs gained during the run happen to stack.

I also expect that the difficulty will be tuned to start rising exponentially from level to level, limiting the benefits of waiting for cooldowns to just being an extra level or two before hitting a wall you can’t overcome.

Easy fix for that, stopping points. Each floor snapshots your exact state as you enter and you can restart from there.

Problem is, those powers can make your CDs even more powerful, meaning it’s better to keep waiting on them.

Who’s “we”?

But you see, the whole point of the tower is that if I felt like it and I was capable I should be able to be in there forever. This is NOT mythic plus, if your bored outta your skull because your team is waiting on cooldowns…guess what your allowed to leave. You don’t have to play like that unless you want to!

However with a timer your making us play to your standards of time weather we like it or not. And that’s not right! And it’s all out of fear of a strat that will be a passing fad at best.

There’s power gains involved, meaning the tower has to be tuned around what people are willing to do.

If people are going to wait on CDs the tower has to be tuned for waiting on CDs.

If the tower was just for funzies you could have your idea, but it’s not.

I’m perfectly fine with someone taking a bio break or doing w/e on each floor as they want. You can sit inside deadmines literally all day without a single care in the world. That’s the style of play I’d rather see promoted in the tower. A style that does not cause the feeling of urgency. Cause currently, that’s the feeling I get in horrific visions and in M+. Any sort of timer (unless you’re going to truly make it obscenely long in length) will cause that feeling. I don’t want that feeling in this content. I hate that feeling in other games. I don’t enjoy that feeling. I’d like the relax and 100% know… that if I find a safe spot… I AM SAFE. I can think without penalty.

Again, I say this as a 11/12M raider (on a 4 hour a week schedule) with KSM from every BfA season. Timed content does not bother me. But I’m not interested in timers in ALL of my content.

I bring it back to the raid environment. There is no overall timer on how long you can be in a raid. There’s no inter-fight timers… just intra-fight timers.

Then ask for them to remove all power gains from the tower, only way it works without some sort of timer.

What are the power gains from the tower currently?

Legendary crafting mats and they’re discussing more.

Weekly cap on accumulation of legendary crafting mats fixes that problem.

What else?

You’re saying a timer would kill torghast? THAT would demolish it.

Oh really? Why? Are horrific visions demolished because of the cap on cloak upgrades?

Yes, when no cloak upgrades are available, most people stop doing them

It’s a soft timer so people won’t go afk between pulls so they can blow all their cooldowns on each pull.

Blizzard doesn’t want people spending hours on each floor so they can blow all their cooldowns on every mob they see.

Not true for those that care about progression. They’re the only way to acquire sockets dependably…

Already offered a solution above to fix that.

So what you’re saying is there is still power attached even after.
