Idk. I think SoM was indeed trying to lure those classic players back. And it did, somewhat. For like a week. But it was just wayyyy too soon. Why did they release it so quickly? I think it wouldâve worked out if they had just waited until after WOTLK or in this space in between BC and WOTLK.
What I really donât like is that they basically acknowledge the need for the cross realm LFD tool in one of their posts.
They announce new fresh realms, and said something like âwe hope that all the other players leveling alongside will help you find groups for dungeons while leveling up.â
So theyâre kinda acknowledging that youâd never ever find a group while leveling if it wasnât on the fresh servers⌠Isnât that inherently flawed?
What if I want to level, during Wotlk, with dungeons, on my regular non-fresh server? Literally impossible. Or what about after a month, even on the fresh server? Youâd never find a low level tank for a group without cross realm dungeon finder. The classic director hates RDF so much that heâs fine with removing the possibility of leveling using dungeons altogether (outside of the first few weeks of fresh realms).

The âanti-RDFâ side is the one doing the off-meta gatekeeping though. And jealously guarding the ability to prevent people who arenât in the âperfect classâ from joining them in dungeons.

And it was the content patch that we are getting for classicâŚ
FactsâŚsat in a group the other day and waited for 15 minutes for 2 people to get tired of waiting and went to summon the rest of us.
This, I will be tank for my dual spec until I have everything I need from dungeon and then never do them again without RDF.
It is their weak attempt to support their poor argument.

We got the final patch of tbc in tbcc. Still didnt launch with guild banks, professions didnt have all of their patterns. Exc.
Launching on the final patch is for class balance and stability. Not content and features, which can and have been absence from launch of classic games. Classic has been some changes since day 1. They were very hesitant on chances in classic vanilla, more willing to do changes in tbcc. And now at wotlkc they are trying to make the game follow a different direction than the one that had many of their players quit.
If you couldnt tell this was coming from the start you were intentionally blinding yourself from it.
I didnât agree with how TBCC was handled either, which is one of the reason I didnât play from the end of phase 1 to the end of phase 4.
The server-health problem should be one of the primary concerns for the dev team, but their dungeon-finder decision only exacerbates the issue. It becomes harder to find groups without a proper lfd tool, so players are now further incentivized to clump on mega-servers such as Benediction. With almost all servers either being dead or literally having tens of thousands of players, the âclassic feelâ ship sailed a long, long time ago. I have no idea what these folks are thinking.

Nope, I love the old expansionsâŚbut if they are going to make changes they should at least be good ones.

In my opinion it is a good change.
It boils down to game design preferences. And Iâm glad they are trying to go a different path than what turned into retail.

Depends. I prefer walking on green healthy grass than yellow dead grass.

I mean, for classic, the grass is green to me.
If they just kept following the path to retail i would see the grass as yellow.
