okay…well we disagree…no problem.
I’m assuming you’re not pugging much then because your tone and perspective would indicate to me that you have a regular group. That’s great for you
I don’t even have a guild anymore… ive torn 10 and 11 keys from 0s. I’ve found my old strength again… though im not a people person so finding a guild has been a trick.
Why did OP
type
like
this?
NOt a people person??? Color me surprised!!!
Sorry I’m rattling your chain a bit
I think all three roles in pretty much all content have their own unique sets of challenges and yes, maybe I get a little offended @ being called “the easiest role” in the game when that is never how tanking has felt. Though, to be fair…most of the challenges usually have to do with dealing with other people in keys.
The only time I feel it’s the easiest? Raid. There’s only ever 2 of us and NONE of the tanking in Nerub’ar Palace has felt very …challeging at all. But…I only do AOTC and don’t bother with mythic.
by that time, you would expect people to know the content because you spent time in "low keys’ making mistakes and learning the dungeons. we used to have a whole m0-9 track for that. now we just m2 where mob count matters and there is a timer.
your attitude it like the person complaining that other people don’t know the graveyard run back into dire maul.
the only reason someone knows the fastest route back is because they had to use it a bunch of times.
It isn’t an insult. There has to be a easiest role just as there has to be a most difficult role. Tank is simplistic. The skill ceiling isn’t terribly high and there are much harder limits on what you can do skill wise compared to a dps class. It has its own challenges but if I were to recommend a new player a role it would be tanking.
I’ve been playing this game since 2007. tanking in mythics and/or raids for several years, including well more than a thousand runs during DF.
if you tossed a brand new player - as in a person absolutely new to WoW - into the tank role, they would get eaten alive and quit within days.
and for the exact reason that i started this whole thread.
i mean, imagine a brand new player encountering the expectations of people who have been playing m±style gogogo diablo-mode WoW and trying to tank. seriously…
Okay so…
Sou say you have 2.5k on multiple tanks, but don’t know the dungeon % for NW? (Hint, It’s nearly the full dungeon’s trash minus 2 small packs)
At any rate, oh well - this is the nature of pug groups. Pull your big boy pants back up, join a guild and do runs that way.
As someone who has been a DPS since this game launched and just started to tank , tanking is fairly simplistic, but the game and players are what make it hard.
I initially tried Bear tankiing in SL but I didn’t like the rotation at all. I mained a Pally in DF and decided to try tanking with him. Hardest part was breaking the DPS mindset over to holding threat and just staying alive. From TWW launch I went through normals and heroics no problem, even M0. But going from 0 to 2 was a big jump.
Mostly I feel it is due to the players queuing into M2 dungeons now not knowing their heads from their Azz! This is 100% related to the Dungeon squish that occured. People trying to run 2’s that should be back running Normal. Most don’t know their toolkits, interrupts, stuns or any of the mechanics, even trash. I have left more NW keys due to PUGS not knowing 3rd boss mechanics at all.
Then again, this is what Blizzard created.
to be clear, as if anyone really cares, I said 2-2.5k. it was in DF. and I actually got all the tanks except for brewmaster to at least 2k at some point in df. that obviously doesn’t make me a “top players” by any stretch. But this ain’t my first rodeo by a long shot.,
this isn’t DF. and as I said, I am just getting out to learn the routes, mob count etc.
Hahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Okay pal.
Your only objective as a tank is to find a guild or tight group of friends that let you breath. After that never tank for a PUG ever again.
He’s right…
Tanking is an incredibly easy role, quite literally the easiest role in the game. Healers have it by far the worst.
Tanks need to know/do 3 things.
- Know where to go
- Grab and hold aggro
- Use defensives
That’s it. That’s tank.
No shot you people are not trolling.
…and I just realized its a druid.
Honestly I wonder if making it so a player must run every dungeon in M0 before they can do keys a good idea. I know it may seem annoying, but it would at the vert least assure that each player going into a key has SEEN the dungeon (Would be Warband wide, so you only have to do it once, not with every character)
They really arnt, tanking is easy as hell and i say that as a tank, I usually hang out in the 16-18 key bracket (old DF numbers) and usually go for KSH each season.
Tanking is probably the easiest out of all 3 things to do.
However, it has more responsibilities then the other 2, but responsibilities do not equate to difficulty.
THATS what drives people away from tanking, tanks have either equal to, or more responsibility to the group then the healer or DPS do. That scares people because apparently responsibility in a video game is scary i guess.
But as some one who has done DPS and Tank in a progression environment i can say that Tanking is a way easier.
Means absolutely nothing
All the good tanks run in premade groups for a reason
It is an easy role
4/5s? lol… you need like a mix of 6 and 7s
No they don’t lol, follow a linear route and hold aggro.
i mean…i could say the same thing about dps
- press your dps buttons
- dont butt pull mobs or pull for the tank
- use defensives when you’re supposed to and interrupt when you’re supposed to
/rinse, repeat.
we can do this all day hon
Can you not tank because you’re bad or?
Inaccurate. DPS have a TON more mechanics to follow.
A tanks biggest mechanic is a tank swap or position a boss.
So let’s do it, doll face.
