No patience = no tanks

TL:DR: if y’all have no patience, you probably don’t have tanks

so I just tried a necrotic 2.

i’m the tank. i know the boss mechanics from running m0 and from SL.

before we even get into the run, I type “im still learning the mob count”

silence

We start. first 3 pulls ezpz

we take down the boss no problems.

I pull a group in the mid, because I think I need them for mob count. I die, for reasons I need to learn about, but i rez immediately and i get the pack back on me. we kill it.

but the healer died.

he stays dead and then is offline.

i pull 5 more packs. no one in the party is in danger.

just before we get to that god-awful caster pack, i ask “we think the healer is coming back?”

everyone agrees not and heads to the entrance.

with no discussion, I am removed from the group.

i have reached 2.5k score in m+. I have gotten four different tank classes to 2k+

I don’t need m+ to gear. i already outgear the 4s/5s I would need for 2k rating in this season.

if y’all have no patience, you probably don’t have tanks

I don’t really think the complaints are coming from keys as low as 2.

Issue seems to be multifold. Tanking has ALWAYS been the easiest role by far. Making it primarily the refuge of players who can’t dps or heal. For the first time a decade they added a little skill to tanking and the results have been pretty rough.

Tanks that were used to running into three packs hitting a aoe and a minor active now crumple much to their confusion. Ive lost several 10 keys from tanks that either are being carried by a strong team or can’t comprehend a group of pugs can cover for them.

most people are lazy and want the easiest answer to everything.

if tanking were the easiest thing to do in the game, people would gravitate to it in droves.

player behavior simply and completely refutes your statement.

and this is simply hilarious.

tanks can frequently solo content in which DPS routinely get deleted. that was the whole reason why blizz nerfed them in TWW.

No, tanking has always been the easiest role. Its peek ceiling gameplay is playing Simon says. It isn’t interesting and its extremely formulaic. The problem is you need it to be easy because you only get one tank.

You can have a bad dps up to… I want to say a 7-8 and it won’t matter you can’t have a bad tank

Nasty people are just going to keep driving more and more players to delves.

Tank and healer are easy bars to clear but if you don’t clear the bar, people don’t get to play.

Healer is more complex due to interplay between group defensives. DPS peak performance makes things faster (or possible at all.)

You can most certainly have a bad tank, but terrible dps that dont interupt and die all the time are group killers.

Like you said tank just has to charge in click an aoe ability and 1 active.

Dps need to do rotations, interupts and avoid death, if dps can do this and the healer can focus on tank only then the group will succeed.

DPS make or break a group nothing else.

Obviously your fault for not looking up route first via google. Geez. Tanking 101.

This sounds like the tank does nothing else but stand there, which is bad. Good tanks are interrupting, stunning, being mindful of positioning for others, etc.

I mean tanks are easier gameplay wise as the healer always focuses them and ur in the frontlines always.

But the social aspect and the “leading” the group. And setting the pace def makes it hard.

Theres so much more to a tank other then actually tanking.

Been having a rough time on grim batol and necrotic wake. people want me to pull faster/larger, but even single packs come close to deleting me in a few globals. I don’t trust pugs to be able to heal/stop or kill things fast enough to prevent this.

and if i die from pulling faster, good chance someone just gets butt hurt and leaves since the timer is so unforgiving on them.

it’s a paradox and i can’t seem to win no matter what I do. I’m close to KSM but I am losing steam on trying to achieve the final steps.

Idk but once people start playing the blame game I’m out. Healer not healing well, tank’s fault. DPS not doing mechanics properly, tank’s fault.

anyone who has ever tanked pugs knows that you have to play as if no one else in the group will be remotely competent. that way, you can be pleasantly surprised when they are. lol

Yeah here I am leveling a tank, and a DPS ran ahead and pulled half the instance, yelled at me for being too slow and the entire run was just bad. Keep in mind, this was a NORMAL leveling dungeon, and I was like “why you acting like it’s a M+ championship?” Sheesh this is why nobody wants to tank

Have you tried WoW Made Easy? I’ve heard a lot of positivity about how they run things to make sure you get the type of group you want and everyone follows that without negativity.

I’m starting to feel this way. Been trying to level and it’s exhausting after a while you get to the point where you start clearing out everything that could accidentally be pulled because you know someone will pull it lol
