So very very important to them, that they couldnât help but scrap the project for the rest of the expansion. They could have very easily said âNo new customization until 9.2â in order to have more time to work on a big batch of customizations or something farther down the line this expansion like 9.2.5, but they straight up said no more this expansion. Hopefully they also lied about no new customizations and decide they will give the players more options in 9.2.
Customizations are coming in the future, they have all hands working on content, as it should be.
You could easily hire 2-3 more people to full focus on customization options, meanwhile the art team isnât really handling any heavy duty job right now as weâve seen in the 9.1 preview.
All the systems, class balance, technical stuff is well taken care of, itâs just the art team that seems to be lacking right now, especially when you realize that a warcraft mobile game has been confirmed and coming in the future. So could be the case that they are actually pulling people from the wow art team to work on the warcraft mobile game.
It takes months to make a new raid.
It takes 5 mins in blender to do a race hair swap.
This is just bad management.
The new raid is also recycling maw / torghast assets and theyâre not even making a new tier, just using the already created legendary sets.
Letâs also not forget, that they arenât even working on new armor at all really aside from the 4 covenant specific transmogs in 9.1.
The raid AND pvp transmog in 9.1 is literally just a recolor of the legendary pieces we have in game right now. So thatâs even less work that the art team is doing right now.
Yes, management is knows it only takes 5 minutes but they want to actively seek to disappoint the community; that is what you think is happening here. (Or⌠may it is actually more difficult than a someone who has never done the job thinks it takes).
As someone who is also using blender I also did some basic changes to the model few years ago which also took minutes.
Such as eye-color change.
I really donât get it - all they need is to task ONE person to do the job, why is it such a problem?
One Person to work on customization and gradually add more through the patches. It will make community eager to see whatâs new coming for them each patch.
I think that it can be deducted that the real answer is they donât care. Thereâs no upcoming expac for them to tack on comestics as a selling point so meh.
Or maybe their crew is super small and they really need to priotize content?
(Or⌠may it is actually more difficult than a someone who has never done the job thinks it takes).
Go up in the thread. multiple people have shown it takes literally five minutes
I have an arts degree. I have used these programs. It is not hard.
The biggest roadblock is likely a chain of flaming-hoop management approval and âkeeping the races uniqueâ or whatever.
Itâs not the actual work. That takes five minutes.
Unless they have 10 people I donât see how thatâs possible. You hit the nail on the head itâd only take one person to do a huge amount of customization assets in a fairly short time.
The person(s) in charge of the art team doesnât care or put any priority on making more.
it only takes 5 minutes
Funnily enough, it takes 1-5 minutes to create new hair styles, and then from there once you get the textures all set up for it, it takes no time at all to color swap em, and thus, you just came up with a new hair style along with all itâs color options in a span of less than 10 minutes.
This reddit post goes in to detail about that and also has some awesome looking custom options to go with it that a lot of people have been requesting.

Even Iâve made myself some tailed worgens on blender myself after I figured out how it worked in like 20-30 minutes. Someone way more experienced than me whoâs only had like a week or so to learn the program can do way more stuff in a very short span, especially a small group dedicated to making customization options.

that could be too. and if one of those people managing has no interest the idea is dead in the water
Also, letâs not forget, they specifically said they want to focus on Allied races AFTER they finish with the core races. Worgens, blood elves, undeads, taurens faces, and many other still have a lot of work that needs done. So when do those allied races come in, in the expansion after the next one? What if they add in more options to races that already have a huge amount like humans and orcs. Do they have to spend even more time to have the other core races to catch up with the ones with the most options?
At this rate, Allied Races are never going to get any new options.
I guess i got lucky that my dorf got eye color and good long hair. I feel bad for the others who got nothing or less.
For the weirdos that say âthey are done, we donât need new optionsâ, check this image out. Worgens got enough they day⌠lmao
With all the time they donât have for customizations and fulfilling promisesâŚisnât it about time they flopped out a completely shameless store mount?
lol yeah see what I mean?
they cant make $$$ off customization options unless its an expac feature so they dont bother
Said this before, I am not the least bit shocked they did this. WoD flying kind of started the same way, was told it would come later, then they delayed, and eventually made the announcement, and the community backlash made them reverse course.
