No matter how good 8.2 is Classic hype will drown it out

So I am not sure who are Blizzard decided to put Classic in August vs June or even May for a release because lets be honest here. No matter what happens in 8.2 it will not be enough.

The nostalgia trip some people are on right now and selling to other is set to an 11 out of 10. The size of the zones, new stuff being tried in Mechagon or Essence system will not be enough.

Blizzard is fighting against hype which is nearly impossible to do. Maybe if this could somehow be released in September once the hype train has passed on Classic then 8.2 would be received more positively.

Hope the devs at Blizzard have realized this is coming and will take it with a grain of salt.

Actually it’s perfect for Blizzard.

A Classic sub grants access to BfA, and vise-versa.

What better way to try and get people back to BfA than to put out a new patch around the same time?

e: and the other way too, people coming back to BfA to see if 8.2 is good will be able to try out classic shortly after.

most of the people hyped about classic will go play a few weeks, maybe a cpl months tops. then they will be like the rest of us it will just be an ALT that we mess with every so often when we get bored

Well I think a lot of the criticism you will see 8.2 get is things that would require an expansion of rework of the game from the ground up to fix.

Talent system, leveling experience and community feeling are not things being addressed in 8.2 but are a main critique from the Classic crew. So how can retail Blizzard devs win when you have huge streamers just dumping on the retail version of the game almost constantly.

Because most of us aren’t sheep.

Ignore the streamers and form your own opinions. I know a lot of people struggle to have their own opinions on a topic, but it’s a far better way to live life in my humble opinion.

Also, Classic doing well is a good thing for Blizzard and WoW. I know you like to post things like this a lot, I recognize your name. I just wish people like you would stop wishing ill on Live and see this for what it is: a chance for Blizzard devs to see what makes a 15 year old game so much more attractive than what they’ve released today. Because this is a learning opportunity that Blizzard can take advantage of to improve the game.

Regardless, the same sub pays for both so regardless of who posts what version, Blizzard will be getting more sub money. And Classic has a set release schedule with no deviations, updates, or interesting changes to look forward to. All of that new sub money won’t be going back into Classic so.

I fully agree that Classic doing well is good for retail but not when the two games are treated as separate MMO’s from two separate developers. That is when this becomes a negative for WoW retail.

The current pattern I see from certain streamers is retail is the worst thing ever conceived and Classic is perfect. Under that theory then why should I pay for a sub for BFA and Classic when I go play on a private server for free that still exist?

Streamers are people with opinions. We are all people, we should all have opinions. If yours is that you’d rather play in a private server rather than pay for access to two games, that’s on you entirely. No one should dictate that choice except for you.

Far too early to theorycraft and worry about Classic’s effect on the retail client. 4-6 months from now, when the rose-tinted “shiny and new again” glow has worn off, and the Classic system is subject to its own criticisms, misgivings, and failings, then you can argue about what it will mean for the retail client.

Not everyone is going to buy into the Classic hype.

I’m not currently playing WoW, but starting to feel the itch to play again. I’m looking forward to coming back when my character remembers that she has a flight form.

I’m not interested in Classic.

I just want my 8.2 flying patch. As long as the release of Classic doesn’t delay 8.2 I don’t care about when Classic is released.

The community isn’t going to be there like it was for vanilla and I doubt there will be any semblance of it for classic, as far as people enjoying classic I’m sure there will be some.

We’ll start with the hardcore crowd that intend on clearing all the end game content and probably go for the scarab lord title/mount. They aren’t really a good judge if classic will be a success in my opinion cause they’re more than likely wanting to relive their vanilla experience or be the guild “2nd clear, who cares”.
I’m not saying going back and redoing the content won’t be enjoyable but there will only be a select few guilds that actually end up in the top % like live and most of them were there for vanilla.

As far as the rest of the player base I think they’re too spoiled with live, the quality of life and the ease of everything will make playing classic irritating for them I’m sure. I remember going months without a meaningful upgrade, people expect to get a meaningful upgrade the second they log in and do a world quest. Just logged in for 35 min. . . then logged out in disgust

I remember wearing white/green items, when you’d get a blue or epic upgrade it meant so much more than it does now. I just see epix in live as de/scrapping mats anymore unless it’s bis or it wf/tf super high af.

I do miss zg/za raids and the aesthetic of teldrassil when I first played as a ne hunter, I helped a ton of people with free bags and questing and such. Yes I was super casual back then and enjoyed leveling. I had leveled 6-8 60s in a matter of a few months, which made me hate leveling and I can’t wait for a 120 boost token so I don’t have to lift a finger other than to gear them out. But other than that I don’t miss much else to vanilla than stv/zg/za zones/raids as it was my favorite spot to hang out and questing zone. My most fond memories are from later expansions tbh.

A large portion of the community is too entitled for Classic. Many will try, and many will burn out quickly just from the leveling process. You have to work pretty hard and put in some effort just to get to max level. Yet if you read these forums frequently, there are posters who here say that because they pay the same $15 as you do a month, that they should be able to have the best rewards given to them with little/no effort. I’m not even kidding you.

Yeah I’m still burned out from leveling in vanilla. But I think the most thing I hate about wow today is how gear doesn’t mean anything like it used to back in the day. It took months to get a decent upgrade especially in a 40 man guild.

I do wish they either got rid of tf/wf or capped it, lfr to norm base, norm to heroic base and heroic ot mythic base. That would fix the problem with gear not mattering as much but still give people slightly better gear than they would’ve got in the first place. But they’d have to actually do mythic raiding to get the best gear possible.

That guy is literally whining about not getting an upgrade for logging in for a half hour and doing some world quests.

Yeah I’ll be very busy farming the crab mount.

If 8.2 don’t come out soon, this game will die, theres honestly nothing to do.
If they make people wait till august for 8.2 GG
