No Ion, Not Everyone Who Delves Wants to do M+

It’s really not, but okay. Maybe playing a game for fun is alien to you? A non-answer would still be more than your nonsense deseves.

Gear is part of the fun, for many players.

You don’t have like… any achievements associated with “playing with friends.”

Oooh, is this where the epeen comes out? No better way for you to admit you don’t have a counterpoint.

Just saying, if someone were to play with friends, they’d have raid achievements, or m+, anything that involves. well, friends.

This… I’m not going back to M+ and if they make Delves worthless I’ll just leave. I mean at this point I’m only playing enough to do my 8 anyway. Hell the last two weeks I only did enough to fill one slot for 616 in the vault cause life is getting busy due to the holidays.

Oh boy! Are you going to shame me for my mere 300 posts next? Impressive you post 10k times
with so little to say, amirte? Obviously you know what I do to socialize better than I! How could I possibly be having fun with friends if there arent cheevos to commemorate?

People have been one shotting old content for almost 20 years. Can’t imagine they wouldn’t do it to new content if they could.

Yes, but I doubt that’s the majority.

Maybe 5%?

As long as there mog, rep, mounts, pets, or achievements to get, it’s got an audience. Thinking only 5% of people farm stuff they can blow through is crazy.

How much would you place it at?

Well, everyone I’ve ever known IRL or in-game does it to some extent, so if I had to guess I’m going >90%.

It’s also important to note that you’re using an absurd example, so the whole argument is disingenuous at best.

If WQs went up to current mythic raid levels and absolute crapton of people would be doing stuff that’s current instead of having to farm old raids 6 years later.

Don’t be a coward.

I suspect, raids, m+ to be the two focal points. M+ has title to chase, and raiding is a fun social activity.

And most people quit the game because there’s no gear to get.

Remember how the old PVP gear was useless for PVE and vice versa? Couldn’t Blizzard do the same with ‘outdoor gear’, so Mythic people would not want/need it?

Some of the takes in this thread are seriously unhinged. It must be exhausting to take anything a game designer says (even positive stuff) about the game mode you deeply care about and see evil intent. I’m exhausted just reading it.

All Ion said was players who get to T8 delves and are looking for the next thing on the progression path see M+ 7s. M+ 7s are super hard for those players to engage with.

What’s wrong with players graduating from Delves to M+? Why does the fact that the progression path is a “cliff” and they plan to fix that by evening it out frustrate you?

Anyone who has made that jump and felt that cliff firsthand who reads this thread would be shocked to find out that they are somehow ruining the game for a lot of players. What?

Any reasonable reader of the interview would understand that they acknowledge that there’s a gap and they plan on making the progression for those players who want to jump from delves to m+ easier. No?

If you don’t like M+, don’t engage with it. Cool, that’s great. I’m happy that you like the game mode they introduced for you. But to sit here saying stuff like “M+ players are making the game worst for you” is a silly take. One, m+ players didn’t ask for this change. Two, M+ players aren’t a homogeneous group. Three, m+ players are also entitled to enjoy their game mode in a MMORPG. When I went to gaming school, the “massively” in MMO meant sandbox / “Themepark” MMO. IE there’s something for everyone.

Where in the interviews which Ion has done, has he said they are going to make Delves worse? Everything I’ve seen is him mentioning:

  1. They are “super happy” with Delves
  2. There’s 3 new delves coming in 11.1 (a new Zek’vir + 2 full sized)
  3. New variations on the existing delves
  4. Introducing seasonal updates to Bran Bronzebeard
  5. A new set of goblin-inspired curios for Brann
  6. Bran is getting a tank spec
  7. A new Delver’s Journey

+ people who move from Delves to M+ hit a difficulty cliff.

Yeah let’s just blow up about that last point, because we’re mad for no reason. Call me an optimist or naive but perhaps we shouldn’t make massive leaps of uncorroborated claims and assume tin foil hat conspiracies that the devs and other parts of the player base are out to ruin the game for you. Maybe that’s a good idea.

unfortunately i seen this coming a mile away because m+ is all they act like anyone cares about. they are probably getting less ppl going into m+. this is not the fault of delves this is the game of m+ and the toxicity it holds. it’s too much.

ion forgot that delves were suppose to be for solo players who gives a flip about ppl in m+ stop focusing on it please ffs let ppl have fun on the game

It’s not this black and white. I greatly enjoy M+ when it’s a difficulty level that is engaging for me. But when I’m bringing up a new alt, I need a base level of gear to reach that level of key; the gearing process up to that point isn’t very exciting because it’s already muscle memory to avoid all the things I’m supposed to avoid, I just lack the health or throughput required to succeed at those higher levels.

There is no way to design the game such that this wouldn’t be true. It’s the same reason farm raid is so dry and boring for so many folks. Unless gear level is transferrable across warbands, there will always be that gearing stage when a fresh character reaches endgame. Choosing the activity that takes the least amount of time and/or with the lowest amount of risk in order to reach the parts I will enjoy makes sense, don’t you think?

Which is a crock that should stopped in it’s step already.

The more these high enders guilds keep forcing Blizz the more they will force players into content they do not want to do or don’t like, which in the end will lead to more people leaving because of a handful of professional gamers that only play for the laurels in competition such as race to the world first.

If they stopped paying abosult attention to players like that who more than likely only do raiding or mythics.

They honestly need to listen to the larger side of subscriptions from players that are cooperate sponsored. But we all know that won’t happen so it will just continue to drive people away.

Leave Delves alone for those that are actually benefitting from them and move back to a token system for raiders and mythicers that are just above delve vault and loot.

Couldn’t they just make delve extra cache keys usable in m+ as well? Then bump the lower end rewards to be the same track as delves?

It’s very unfortunate.
