Don’t pretend you will not continue to use that second account in retail.
Wasn’t in Vanilla, no changes, find another way to multibox.
So much was brought into the conversation by this comment…
Don’t feed the troll dressed like a cow.
I wouldn’t have to if you didn’t snipe first.
Shoes really on the other foot honestly, there’s people in this topic that almost made it their job to spam other topics asking for changes like this and they would repeat the “Wasn’t in vanilla” line over and over.
Now here some of them are asking for a change.
Lol.
Not once Classic goes live. My login to BfA is few and far between, basically to catch up on lore after each patch. I don’t need 2 characters for that.
It was in Vanilla. The current state is “less Vanilla”. So yes, please change the broken inauthenticity and make it more like Vanilla, I agree.
I’m curious about how this affects multiboxing. Or maybe I’m confused.
To explain, I had a brief tiff with multiboxing a pair of horde alts on a pvp server during BC. Gave up interest when they announced allowing horde and ally chars on pvp servers. During the leveling process I don’t remember the exact way that I did it, but I remember having the main character run around while the secondary character followed. When engaging in combat, I had a keybind to cause the secondary account to ‘move forward’ slightly and another key that used target of target. Lastly the keybinds were propagated between both accounts for abilities and set up simultaneously. So naturally when ambushing on one I ambushed on the other.
Also after setup I could use backstab on the second rogue by walking behind the target.
Lastly, had a keybind for selecting the party member ala F1,F2 and then a macro for following. Was a little tedious, but it worked.
So I’m confused why focus target was needed? Or is target of target not in classic? I legit don’t know, can you explain how you do it that you need a focus target?
It doesn’t affect the 5 mage strike team style multiboxing where every character does the same thing.
It affects the casual dual-boxer who has a healer on follow and a separate PC with keypad, to heal the active character using focus
as the targetting Unit ID.
All the people crowing about killing Multiboxing are basically clueless, and simply latched on to their own misunderstanding to claim that its evil.
Since I don’t want to deal with third party software or the nonsense that everyone hates, I was simply telling Blizzard it would result in me not resubbing the 2nd account.
Dual-Boxing should be disabled the first 30 days of classic-wow change my mind. To be honest i dont care if somebody dual-box but at least the first month “NO”
Your mind doesn’t matter. Its Blizzard who need to be swayed.
Also, I’m not going to be dual-boxing for the first 30 anyway because that’s not the point of what I’m doing. All the multi-boxers with their 40 man Mage teams are unaffected by this.
But your raid healer who needs to level an alt to be able to farm herbs is going to take far more time out from playing their healer to do it.
Out of curiosity, how come it has to be targeting focus
and not to just have the character targeting the heal target? Couldn’t you use a name based target and targetlasttarget or are those not available either?
Fair enough. I don’t really have strong feelings either way on the subject. Just didn’t understand why it was a problem.
You can’t target players by name in combat, unless they’re in your group. You can’t assist players by name in combat, unless they’re in your group. You can’t follow players by name in combat, unless they’re in your group.
When a Level 60 “pocket healer” is keeping a level 10 alt alive as that alt quests, the healer can’t be in their group.
There are many other ways to multibox, and a simple google search will teach you.
I will only tell you there is a way to Multi box, my brother was already doing so on the BETA. He’s been multi-boxing for years and will contine to do so with out bots or scrips.
When there is the willpower to do so there is a way to do so.
I will clue you in, he came up with a very creative hardware solution to the problem.
If his hardware can manually switch targets in combat, that’s … well… something even Blizzard would be interested in.
I hope they take even more draconian measures to restrict and punish multiboxing. It contravenes the spirit of the game. The 5 mage/shaman nonsense is just that: nonsense. It has no place in a well managed MMORPG, and every time I see it, it takes me out of the damned game.
Nothing has been done to explicitly stop that type of multiboxing. This is a “fall through the cracks” issue, because they’re using the modern API without considering the implications of removing things that were added because the modern API prevented what we did in Vanilla. This change will force people who want to multibox towards that style more.
If they wanted to stop multiboxing, they’d allow focus (since it has a plethora of other uses for healers and CC, as well as team coordination) while destroying the likes of ISBoxer and the other third party software that allows your 5 man mage team.
Can’t say I’m too sorry, I’d rather not get one shot by 5 shamans using shocks on me.
Again. This has NO EFFECT on that style of multiboxing and in fact encourages more people to move towards it.
