No Echos? It can't be just me

So the preface all of this to avoid the “did you log onto the right account/toon” I logged into my main and only my main.

On reset. I did as instructed via the blue post. I logged into my main account that has all but four rank 3 or 4 essences. So I have nearly all possible essences at rank 3 or above.

So, I went to go see Mother. She did not have the menu option to see the new vendor window, so I went out and did all the dailies and assaults for the Tuesday reset and then a 2 mask full clear. Only to finish it all and find i have earned a whopping 0 echos. I’m not looking to get lost ones back at this point, I’m just trying to figure out why I’m not earning them on my main.

To be clear, as far as I understand it, you haven’t lost anything. If you don’t have a Rank 3 essence that you can purchase on an alternate character, you won’t earn Echoes. Meaning if your alt didn’t have a Rank 3 that your main didn’t have, but could otherwise use, your main isn’t eligible to earn Echoes. After logging on my main with a 2 rank 4 essences and 2 rank 3 essences, I logged in on an alt and saw the ability to purchase rank 3 essences. Now I just need to earn the stuff to purchase.

I do the emissary quest every day on 12 characters, i can verify that despite all that has been said i have noticed that my warlock never receives echoes afterward even though all of my other characters did. There is definitely an issue beyond whether a character is eligible or not as there is NO reason that my warlock’s daily rewards should differ from the other eleven.

Is your warlock your main character? The one that all of the essences at rank 3 on your account?

Because that would be the reason they can’t buy anything from MOTHER-- they already have them.

To expand upon what Ekon said, in order for any character to be eligible for earning Echoes – then another character of yours must have a Rank 3 Essence that the character in question does not have yet.

Just as your alts relied on your main to have Rank 3 Essences they did not yet have in order to obtain Echoes – your main also relies on them to have a Rank 3 Essence that the main does not have yet.

I have x18 characters at level 120. This is my main. The other 17 characters acquire Echoes quite easily. This main acquires NONE. This is because none of my other 120s have an Essence that my main does not have yet. Once they do, she will be able to start acquiring Echoes herself.

I must be drunk, my main has a crap load of level 3 essences, earns no echoes, mother has no options other than remove corruption. I’ve earnt zero despite having cleared Nya on N and H, am I missing something?

No. It is working as intended. If all your level 3 essences are on your main you don’t earn echos on your main. Echos are a catch-up mechanic for alts. You only earn them if another of your characters has a level 3 essence your current character doesn’t have. For your main to earn Echos, you have to have a level 3 essence on an alt that your main doesn’t have.
