The flood gates are already open, it’s too late to be talking about small steps.
So, mail isn’t a trade directly to a specific character?
It’s a vague description in the patch notes, and people got confused as to what was included, and what was not.
Insulting people that got confused by the vagueness isn’t a good look for those doing it. (not saying you’re doing that, Noedesha, but others here are)
My level 70 Gnome Mage went to Pandaria to get the item to enable water walking on my Mounts and mailed them to both factions on a totally different realm that was not a connected realm. No issue and both characters received the item.
Maybe it was a fluke because I tried to send some gold that way and got a error message.
My question is. If we cannot mail something why is the target listed in the send to box.
Those are account bound we could already do that. But if you’d tried to send gold that would have failed.
Mount equipment is specifically an account bound items, much like marks of honor, pet upgrade items, etc. THese have worked cross realm for a long time.
Not really. Blizzard apparently sees “directly” as through the actual trade window. Mail and the AH, like I said, is more of a “middle man service”. Both those services there is something (i.e. middle man) that holds or transfers the goods when it goes from one character to the other. It’s made more clear in the fact that you can use the mail or AH and do not require both characters to be online, and there is a fee included. Using the trade window both characters have to be online. I do think it would have helped if they did include a “what’s not included” to help set expectations and good faith.
I get where you are coming from though. I didn’t read the patch notes cause I just didn’t have the time, but they have had vague descriptions before. It is frustrating cause many companies use specific language to mislead or to “encourage” people to assume. I am not going to exclude this from possibly being that, but I would fall more towards Hanlon’s razor. I mean I honestly thought mail was included, and was really excited about it.
The only reason I am looking at the language as I am is because I work with “corporate language” for a living. The language they choose is intentional, and is different than every day conversation language that most players are use to. Add to it if the player has good faith or trust in the company. They aren’t going to go looking for hidden meanings. Why I don’t feel it’s the player’s fault for misunderstanding it. Players shouldn’t be insulted for being upset with misunderstanding what was said. If anything it does show that this is a feature players are wanting.
Bots are already grouping up on dead servers to farm mats on dead servers btw. Most of the mining and herb bots I see on my dead RP server are from illidan, tich, etc
so… just make a second account to act as pony express? not like they need DF to do that job. a simple sub fee should cover it assuming its that important to trade an item to an alt and you got no fiends you can trust and be online?
Two different sub-systems in the game. I suspect the mail system is more complicated than the trade system. For all we know, cross-realm mail will come in the future.
Exactly.
Trading NOT mailing.
Cross realm trading is broken now. I can’t trade anyone from another realm, it’s giving me the old message. Multi dollar programmers.
I just between my alts cross-realm a little while ago with no problems.
Nevermind… It’s on the launcher now. It’s temporarily disabled to fix an issue.
You know, this does open up a form of “caravan trading” between servers. You can only pack so much stuff between character trades so there is time constraints on moving huge quantities of stuff.
This could open up a whole new avenue of speculation.
True. It does take a little time with only 6 items per trade.
Is there any sort of bulk trade addon that automates trading between players like how you can bulk mail stuff?
Not that I know of.
I just want to mail cross-faction. If I could do that I would have had Horde characters a long time ago.
You can mail cross-faction already just not cross-realm. I wish we could do both.
