Perhaps Malfurions transformation means they can’t.
The whole “never die” thing… if you think about it, if something like a Draenei or a dragon or a Night Elf had 1 kid a year for 1,000 years… which is a VERY short part of their lives, they would have 1,000 kids just from one individual.
Oh thankfully I only have three… but could you imagine 1,000 mini mes?
Is this for real?
You know that wasn’t Malfurion, right?
Maybe the gestation period is 100 years.
Pretty sure we’d see more pregnart night elves then. Justvwalking around with their 50-99 year baby bellies
I mean, if we want to talk about this realistically, any truly long-lived race like Nelf would be working with breeding programs. It’d be very highly controlled, because reality is the same, even if you live 1k years.
The average Elf lifespan due to accident and injury wouldn’t even be close to 1k, most likely, and that alone would drive more breeding than any Elf race is ever shown across all franchises. The only way this would be different is if they were extremely cowardly and cautious, which they’re not.
Immortality is to never have children. Immortals do not need children to carry on legacy.
the real babies are the players we met along the way.
Considering Neltharion’s tendency to have strict control over his projects, probably not.
The Dracthyr were made to be soldiers, any time spent on romance, nurturing, and raising would’ve been time spent being something other than “ready for battle” which likely would’ve been seen as a waste of resources in his eyes.
Not to mention, the whole thing being kept secret meant he would’ve had to keep a tight rein on their population. There would’ve been problems if he left them alone for a while and came back to find there were 300 more of them than when he left, since that would bring the possibility that there were actually more than “300 more of them” and that some of them left containment.
So, easiest way to keep all that handled would be to not give them the capability, and just create more of them if he needed them. No erratic numbers, no time wasted raising them, no risk of emotional bonds developing, etc.
This should be how it goes and it’d be nice to have a questline with Emberthaal and the creche leaders at some point to consult with Alexstrasza about it.
Would be an interesting bit of race lore for them.
This is pretty likely for Draenei who canonically have extremely extended childhoods according to Rise of The Horde.
Elves seem to mature at rates similar to humans before reaching adulthood where physical aging slows. You could assume a similarly human gestation period.
Yes, it is.
Night Elf Children? I thought we got rid of all that vermin when we burned Teldrassil.
I could be misremembering, but I believe in Stormrage or one of the other Knaak novels Tyrande was revealed to be barren, despite really wanting kids. It’s been years since I’ve touched a WoW novel, though.
Well… my days as a single father to Draenei triplets just got worse.
Do they get little bumper stickers for their car / cart / horse / cat-thing that say “Tree Parent”?
Yes. They all go on Tyrande’s egregiously large forehead.
Yes, it is.
