Newcomer here

Just from what I’m reading here, it sounds like you’re feeling a little overwhelmed. That’s normal; so, don’t worry too much. There’s a lot to learn, but you should just start by doing stuff in the game and then asking questions when you run into things you don’t know how to handle or do.

The addons suggested are suggestions, and as one poster mentioned, deal with them when you wish you could do something in the game but can’t find a way to do it or see someone else doing something that you’d like to be doing.

Your initial backpack will remain the same size (until you get double authentication, I think–then you get an extra row. Check your account settings to set that up). You can’t get rid of the initial backpack or use a bag to replace it. It is what it is–hardcoded into the game.

Playing through the initial quests will get you an introduction to the main city along with its important locations. My advice is to click on all the NPC’s just to see what they have to offer. You don’t have to buy anything, though once you find the bank, open up bank slots and put bags in them as you can afford them and need them. Also, there is a reagent bank which costs 100 gp to open up. If you’re doing a lot of crafting or gathering, this is where your reagents will go. When in doubt, you can try to throw something in there to see if it will go. If it does, it’s probably related to a profession.

The game doesn’t do a good job of teaching you about macros. Don’t worry about this too much. Until you get to 70, you probably won’t need them, but if you find yourself having a hard time, just ask for help in the Macros and UI forums. Usually someone can give advice there. I use them rarely.

You said you wanted help with your UI. Check the aforementioned Macro and UI forums. The UI is…a LOT, and half the things you can move around on there you probably won’t know what they are. BUT…move them around. Play around with them. Eventually you’ll figure out what those nebulous boxes are for and find a good spot for them.

Watching videos and the like is fine. If there’s something you see that you like in them (such as a specific set-up etc.) feel free to ask the video’s creator or ask around here. Make sure to let them know you’re new to the game. This will help them to (hopefully) better explain things so you can understand them. But again, if you ever have a question, just ask. MOST people want to help and are nice, and the ones that are jerkfaces you can just /ignore and move on with your gaming life.

As others have said, welcome to the game. It’s a journey, not a destination. Take your time. Enjoy the many deaths that you are likely to experience. Try to learn something new each time you play, and most of all–have fun.

Wonder which one of our regs revived that account to stir up a bit of fun on a Sunday.

Nice. I played OSRS a ton before finding wow in the last expansion (2200 Ironman + Inferno btw) . If you liked Cox, TOB, etc then you’ll love Mythic+. That’s all.

Could have been a trial account they paid for? Obtaining a pet in 2021 achievement is no big deal.

For the ones posting screenshots and other things I don’t know what’s going on. All I know is I personally have not played WoW. I’m speaking for myself and myself only. I’m not trying to stir up anything and have been genuine. So, whoever took the time to actually try and stir something up for pure fun grow up, okay.

Marla is a troll, I guess I did not finish all the Sojourner questlines but finished 1 of the 3 they SS of my profile. Guess what, it did not make my renown how they stated it should be. Anywho Phixxion you do you and why I suggested do not start WoW. Nothing but trolls, diehards, and white knighters.

Thank you so much for this well thought out comment. I will carefully read it and see where I go from there. Thanks again!:heart:

Welcome to the madhouse! Countless hours of fun to be had here. Take your time and enjoy all the game has to offer.

And try not to mind the doomposters/trolls too much, though it may seem hard to do as they are quite abundant.

I just want to chime in and welcome you to World of Warcraft. There has been a lot of advice here, which is probably as overwhelming as the game itself, so I don’t want to pile much more on.

As others have said, take your time. Like in real life, you will run into good people and bad people. Don’t let the bad ones ruin your fun. I love to level through questing (which many other folks disdain).

My advice is for you to do whatever you like. An active social/leveling guild can be helpful if you find one you mesh with. If you want to stay as a healer, you may want to look into healing add-ons. On my druid, I use Healbot, but I usually play as a Balance druid and do Resto only in dungeons.

Good luck, and have fun!

Thank you so much! Yeah, you’re not wrong. All the advice that was given to me was more overwhelming than I thought but I’m going to take it step by step. Although I was thinking of changing up the class and starting again.

Nah, druids are fun. Especially when you get your travel form(s). As a confirmed altoholic, I’ve got nothing against making new characters and leveling them. But I made the mistake of starting new ones before I’d ever gotten any to max level. I mean, do whatever you want to do, but I’d advise you to level this guy first, then dip your toes into the alt water. But again, the most important thing is to have fun!

Follow some quest lines and do some dungeons along the way!! It’s a big world enjoy it. Save up for your riding and flying mount. When you Que for a dungeon just let the people know u are brand new otherwise they automatically assume you are some m+ champion who knows every twist and turn of the dungeon. Don’t take anyone seriously. Ever. At all. Like ever. And you will have a lot of fun! Stay away from m+ community and players. Look at questing PvP and raiding

Well, doing solo content is great. Read the quests. Enjoy the lore. Rated PvP is unplayable for casual players. Find a nice guild, it can be very handy. And be aware of some toxicity specially in PvP and mythic plus dungeons. I guess it covers the overall in a superficial way. Have fun, and remember to have a life out of a screen. Things to do in-game are endless.

As a confirmed altaholic, if you’re not having any fun with the druid, by all means try something else out. But I would also strongly encourage you to at least get to 60 on something, so that you are able to use Chromie time and explore other “chapters” (expansions of the past) of the vast world of Azeroth. I am pretty sure that as a new player, once you hit 60 on your first toon, the Chromie time option unlocks. Otherwise you’re locked to BFA for leveling.

hi op im kinda new but wow is fun
i started looking at what i wanted to unlock, like allied races and stuff. other peeps are right, getting a char to 60 to unlock chromie time is gonna be super fun.
the content it pushed me into, bfa, was my least favorite content, and by far the most difficult

He has pets awarded from out of game sources, like the Overwatch collectors edition, Hearthstone, and Heroes of the Storm. None of those promotions required you to have a WoW account.

I love this  My very first character was a Worgen druid. I started playing in 2014. I would agree with some folks by saying: just take your time, enjoy the story and the lore. I spent my first 4 years just playing extremely casually going throughout the world and doing lore master quests. It wasn’t until last year that I really started to get into high-end content so honestly there is no rush. It’s a beautiful game and I’m glad you’re here
