Shadowlands was so bad, tons of people wrote off retail ‘for good’.

You must not have heard of the FF14 exodus that happened during that time, of which I was apart of lol.

Ended up playing FF14, and even Endwalker, took my time away from WoW. It was actually a lot of fun, and I respect FF14 as game, I’ll return probably to try out Dawntrail or whatever it is.

Playing Hardcore right now, Dragonflight was a free birthday gift for me.

I’d rather trust them than trust you, tbh. You’re already calling us delusional and whatnot, for enjoying Classic actual MMORPG instead of lobby-simulator.

Are you sure we’re the delusional ones? Our game actually has RPG flavor in it.

The thing is simple, first is to improve and attract better retail so that content creators focus more on the new expansion than the classic servers, the classic HC and WotLK attracted a lot, it is beautiful and what will come in other servers classic expansions, but Blizzard has to think carefully about what we want for the future of WoW and its respective versions.

We were all on Turtle WoW before we decided to come try Hardcore.

You forgot token money. It opened at 10K+ per token. With its supply and demand auto adjust it stays in the 4000’s now. most days its not even paying for artisan flying WITH rep discounts lol.

Classic (wrath) ahs also been faction/ server transfer money. Oddly enough free transfers never have “good” servers as a destination. those cost money. They got me for a few.

Its made them some money beyond subs.

However, the fact is that these content creators are the fundamental piece that Blizzard needs to attract the public, retail is in trouble, and the end of 10.2 is a mere joke for them after they made the Fyrak meme.

And what we need is whatever comes in the future of WoW, whatever that may be.

So, let me get this right, a meme is what you are using as evidence that 10.2 and Retail in general is in need of help and that checks notes Classic is the only thing that can prop retail up and allow it to survive. Am I getting that right?

Whatever Chris Metzen has planned we won’t likely see until next Blizzcon, unless somehow his plans for the future of the game have carried on after he left and are still carrying on with his return.

Something like that, but since they also focused for retrogamers on going more to a good classic server, be it WotLK or HC, they should also do the same with retail.

Remember Legion? the latest newly in retail that brought a new audience, WoW needs WoW and not Hello Kitty Island.

No idea what’s going to be announced tomorrow, all we have so far is unconfirmed forum posts and random rumors/hearsay

These seem to be the main ideas floating around from what I’ve been reading:

Retail

  1. “World of Warcraft: Avaloren”
  2. “World of Warcraft: Lightforged”
  3. whatever the next expansion is will be playable on console/GamePass (I suppose this rumor makes sense with Microsoft entering the equation soon)
  4. no expansion is announced at all, instead something more minor like a “patch 10.3”

Classic

  1. a “Classic+” that builds on Vanilla with fresh content/possibly an alternate storyline… this rumor seems like a “longshot” pipedream, but I notice the hopeium is strong with this particular rumor regardless of whether we’re talking about reddit, Youtube, twitch, etc
  2. Cataclysm Classic
  3. neither Classic+ or Cataclysm Classic, instead a new “season” or similar nothingburger is announced

One thing’s for sure from the above possible scenarios, the Classic forums will erupt/explode if they do actually announce they’re rolling out Cataclysm Classic… I’m guessing it won’t go over well at all lol :grimacing::popcorn:
