Keep in mind that out in the world you are facing the effect of cross realm zones, which are another thing compared to connected realms: if your medium realm is in cross realm zone with another 15 medium realms, that effectively means your world is high or full population, how you want to call it, and that goes for the majority of servers, really.

You cant interact with these people in any meaningful way if they are not part of your server group.

The cross realm problem would be solved if we just did region wide connected realms. The only difference is the economy part which should be much easier to keep track of (programmatically) than you already do with syncing players, NPCs, objects, and spells in the game world live. #ConnectAzeroth

Why not rename the realms after the connection? Does it not confuse who you can and cannot trade with? Did they remove xrealm in major cities? Bite the bullet, rename the connected realms to ONE NAME!

That would be far, far worse. Right now our realm names are essentially a last name, so I can have a Illoramoan-Grizzly Hills and an Illoramoan-Lothar. if they renamed the connected servers, who’s getting renamed? Now I know I can trade with anyone whose name I see on Trade channel. Crossrealm zoning and phases all still exist.

Population size is much MUCH less important that faction balance. There is no world in which your population study was “comprehensive” if you’re not specifically balancing for this metric.

BTW, not sure if you noticed (sorry if you did and said, haven’t read the whole thread) but blizzard closed the other thread about connections. That’s basically saying they’re done connecting for now (we knew but kind of a confirmation), cause otherwise they always leave those threads open.

So, they’ve combined up to 9 realms in some circumstances, but they’ve left my freaking small-med pop 2 servers forever RP home of Scarlet Crusade/Feathermoon to continue to languish with a barren Stormwind, a slightly populated Boralus… Nice job, Blizz. There have to be other RP clusters to merge us with. Fix it.
