I don’t think they do really.
In relevant content for the past few years, Engineering has provided almost exclusively out-of-combat utilities. Mounts, and a few funny gizmos.
I really don’t think they’d lose anything just because there’s a Tinker class.
They’d still make out-of-combat utilities, mounts and Gizmos.
At the very most they would lose their bombs. Which are all locked to 5 minute cooldowns anyways
Hell. Think of it this way.
Let’s assume a Tinker class would use guns and ranged weapons. Right?
Then Engineering could get a bigger focus on guns and scopes and weapon add ons.
They don’t conflict with enchantments, and are pretty powerful even in BFA!
If tinkers got added. They’d be able to provides these upgrades to two classes. Literally doubling their benefit
To be honest Monsserrat. I actually think Tinkers could be a buff to the useful of engineering.
Of course; there’s the opposite way of looking at these things.
Tinkers don’t restrict engineering. They allow the fantasy of engineering to finally stretch out and reach its limits.
Once engineering isn’t restrained to being a profession anymore. It can become something way more interesting. A class. With mechs, missiles, and nuclear firepower.
Necromancer steps all over existing classes, and they don’t have a WC3 hero to steal from.
Tinkers are muchhhh easier.
Expansions actually feel like garbage to me if they don’t have a new race or a new class. They basicly feel like all we are paying for is a patch not an expansion.
Just because I don’t like too much Science Fiction in a Fantasy Science Fiction hybrid doesn’t mean I’m a complete monster that thinks races and classes are not important to be in expansions.
Literally why I don’t play star wars. They never add new classes…ever.
Because Blizzard wanted necromancers in WoW before, twice actually, but both times but decided they don’t fit the game given most races absolutely hate necromancy with DKs being only accepted due having being forced into that path.
But more than that, I’m sure because china. Necromancers won’t sell as well there, given the country censors everything dead. “But Shadowlands” has most of its zones comprised of other types of creatures like angels or vampires, even the jailer looks more human than anything.
Yeah definitely, though of course that shouldn’t mean engineering disappears.
What they can do with engineering is do the more mundane stuff so to speak. Things that aren’t combat based like they do now. The repair etc…
It would be cool if Eng could actually create items that served for mounts , like jetpacks so ground mounts could fly or swim etc…
Everything non combat. Not that a profession can do much combat other than buff anyway.
Well, that’s very levelheaded of you and I appreciate it.
Personally. After seeing so many tinkers in the universe, and finding that they were frequently my favorite NPC’s in any particular zone, I really want a class that better highlights them.
Hell, a significant tinker from Warcraft 3 is now a racial leader for the Horde.
I want this segment of the universe to be better represented; and I’m glad you can understand that.
We all have our desires for class fantasy to be fulfilled. I can understand that I just really really don’t want mobile suite gundam in my WoW game. If it happens here or there on the offshoot quest now and then or in an occasional cinematic I can deal with it… but for that type of thing to be in the hands of players would make my eyes burn. It would be too dominate. But if they could make the same class without the mechsuit then there could be some room for coping with it.
Personally I think Engineers would strictly benefit from the addition of a Tinker class. Or Blizzard could entire overhaul them into something useful.
There’s plenty of options. None of them wrong
