ogres are not playable. alliance could ask for playable ogres if they desired. but no its always the sexy supermodel race
thats what blood elves ARE, the high elves
what they want is an exact carbon copy of a playable horde race and part of its identity. pale, blonde haired elves who are followers of the light, legendary rangers and magic users to be exact. that high elf fantasy is already playable
the aesthetic and lore belong to the horde. all the alliance have are 2 canon elves lurking around SW. this is why they fanfiction the SC doesnt serve the kirin tor which is officially neutral but anduin and the alliance of stormwind. and even then they only have a couple appearances and always appearing in the context of kirin tor representatives aiding the alliance with an existential threat. the alliance high elf position is perfectly reflected in game by lore and what the damn developers themselves say. that a few individuals do exist but there is no need to replicate the high elf fantasy(a selling point of the horde) onto the alliance when its already available to anyone to play
they already did in 2007. and blizzard finally caved after 13 years of alliance begging for access to it with void corrupted high elves but thats as close as its getting. the high elves who are rich in their traditions and culture are waiting on the horde, simply renamed blood elves
“fine fine, just bring me a few hundred Elves and I’ll saw them in half if you want half-elves this badly, though I can’t for the life of me figure out why anyone would want to play a dead cut in half elf?”-Hernex 2020. I know what you mean I just couldn’t resist that joke .
Oh, I missed it, are you now the spokesperson for all the helfers?
You know there are helf fans here who recognize half elves are a compromise they’re willing to make.
An underhanded way to call those who reject playable alliance high elves, as bad people.
let alone all alliance players. i mean seriously what high elf story can be told with them? the story of a people devastated by the scourge and pushing forward is being told through the blood elves and to an extent the void elves that they always forget about. what story can be developed from a few individuals in the alliance. night elves need all the story we can get as well!
Actually there’s lore behind High elf females specifically finding male humans quite attractive, to the point where it’s supposedly “Diluted their bloodline”.
I directly quoted the OP so you can still be lying to yourself. If the half elf doesn’t look elvish enough, you’d be back here complaining. Case in point, void elves weren’t enough.
void elves are 1) not silver covenant and therefore dont have silver covenant lore, 2) blood elves, 3) hidden on the character creation screen, 4) skipped over entirely by character boosts included in every special edition of the game, 5) stuck behind a lengthy rep grind, 6) represent the 2nd blue tentacled race on alliance which is not exactly a feature of traditional elves.
i’m requesting that the half elves be the current silver covenant, that theyve been half elves all this time, that they be a core race, selectable from the character creation screen so that the new player engine can be restarted, and that they have access to the new african and asian models, so we get the first asian and african elves, as well as caucasian.
evidence is what happened when horde were in a similar situation at the end of vanilla. the devs gave them a beautiful elven race with good racials, made them a popularly requested class for horde, and cha-ching.
as far as the population engine. … i thought everyone knew that fantasy rpg players were looking for the holy trinity of fantasy rpgs the tolkien type races = elves, dwarves and humans. wow made theirs edgier. it just so happened at the time, they also made the best 3d models with the best animations. blood elves improved on that even more.
no i would love half elves and here’s why: 1) shorter ears, 2) shorter eyebrows, 3) potential access to the new human customizations coming in shadowlands for asian and african skin/hair/faces, 4) solves the entire high elf dilemma as far as silver covenant lore is concerned, since they would be the half elf members of the silver covenant we’ve gotten quests from and fought alongside, all this time.
i dunno if you’re an alt of someone else who ive talked to before, but i think there’s also a believable way to retcon it also, and that is when elisande accused the alliance silver covenant quel’dorei of having diluted bloodlines, that was the reveal that many of the silver covenant are half elves after 2800 years of hanging out with humans in dalaran.
