(Statement): The First Guardian was a Half-Elf (Alodi). Dalaran was founded after the Troll Wars, 2,800 years before the opening of the Dark Portal. In the time between the Troll Wars and Dalaran’s founding half-elves already existed. One had grown, matured, and become skilled in magic enough to become the first Guardian.
(Conclusion): There are probably more Half-Elves in the world than we know, since they lack any unique model of their own. The majority of the human and elven population of Dalaran may well have mixed racial heritage, and it would be perfectly logical (as well as another way to make humans from one of the seven kingdoms look different from your standard human).

Humans and Elves have been doing the horizontal tango since Dalaran was founded; the first Guardian was a Half Elf.
By now you should now that most ideas for half elven population present the posibility of Dalaran being a place where half elven offspring has happened enough time on the last 3k ish years to plausibly be a recognizable population. Indeed, Elisande herself calls out the High Elves for “mingling with lesser races that dilute their bloodline”
The fact that we have half elves ocurring since almost 3k years, that the leader of the alliance aligned faction of Dalaran is mother to two half elves, and Elisande’s comment to the High Elves on Suramar, all could be expanded into revealing that Dalaran has a considerable half elven -or whatever degree of human/elf mix- population, enough to not be a rarity.
It would be as difficult as changing the models of certain NPC’s for a unique model, such as it has happened in every other case of a race/npc getting updated.
(Statement): Originality is an extinct commodity. Humanity has existed for so long that original thoughts and concepts are so exceedingly rare as to be statistical improbabilities.
(Commentary): I’d rather have an existing race made playable then one made up as a hit-or-miss, since we know what Alliance players want. Half-Elves are a fine addition. Modify the Blood Elf model, give them a unique stance and altered animations, and make their home, Dalaran.
Note that I am not remotely as opposed to Half Elves (having started a “Half Elves, a workable compromise?” thread that was buried under a wall of ‘Nope’ over a year ago) as I am playable High Elves in the Alliance, but for me they have to look as human as they do Elven, not something virtually indistinguishable from Thalassian elves.
(Response): Correct. As World of Warcraft is a product-service of a company that seeks to make profit, and Unit Exacitor would like to see this company and it’s product succeed, he would prefer to see time and resources spent developing assets players will like, and invest time and money into.
(Commentary): Rich coming from someone playing a Mechagnome, I know, but they added them, I like them, so I’ll play them even if I’m the only one. Much as I personally like Mechagnomes, I never want to see another Allied Race as unpopular as they are.
Not necessarily. It has been determined in terms of musical capability there is incredible variety that has yet to be heard or enjoyed.
Of course, this is just me being facetious, but in terms of originality, one cannot expect to demonstrate 100% brand new concept. We can, however, introduce twists to create something different, such as mechagnomes. I like them.
Oh yeah, people are running Erator off the streets of Stormwind by how much of a dirty half-elf he is, oh no…look at all the pitchforks and torches.
Garona, oh no, people of Orgrimmar just spit at her, they don’t listen to her and they treat her like a second class citizen, nosiree they don’t treat her with a modicum of respect even if she is half-orc, she’s also half-draenei!
